I know we had a few threads on this last week, but I thought I'd update the situation.

It was doing the rounds that some muppet had purchased a picture of an Xbox One from eBay. Despite the eBay listing apparently clearly stating that he was indeed buying a picture of the console, it still sold for £450.

Well IGN have news today that this guy has been rewarded for him simply being a moron.

I can accept him having his money back, despite it being his own but his own stupidity that put him in this situation - but CEX have been "kind" enough to give him a free Xbox One.

Oh sorry, I forgot that he was buying the console for his four year old son... I guess that makes this somehow better?

An Xbox one.... For a four year old....

I get the feeling it was for himself. When he realised he was had he tried to seek sympathy by saying it was for his widdle son.

A TEENAGER stung by an internet scam has finally got his hands on an Xbox One games console, thanks to a business’ generosity.

...

Student Mr Clatworthy had saved up to buy a limited-edition Xbox One Day One version of the console as a surprise Christmas present for his four-year-old son, McKenzie.
Sounds about right.

I am pretty gutted this cretin has been rewarded for absolute stupidity.

Why not donate the XB1 to an orphanage?

He got his money back, that in itself is a victory.

Meanwhile, CEX are price gouging PS4s at £500+

We live in a culture that rewards complete morons if they cry hard enough.

Sure his 4 year old cannot wait to play FIFA.

Not sure the reasoning behind giving him a free console. Glad he has had his money refunded from ebay, people who do these things on there are the reason I don't go on there.

However, my 4 year old (and my 6 year old) both play on my PS4 - not sure what the problem is with it tbh?!

Because he states the sole reason for buying it was for his 4 year.... to play FIFA. LOL

this guy was lucky enough that he was a complete retard and a young father that the story had a lot more than scam to it, it was going to enrage hardworking parents as well as make fun of him for being an idiot.

he was always going to get his money back.

cex decided to cash in on free publicity, seriously advertising like this would cost several thousands of pounds, it cost them what £400 ish.

it's got you all talking about it, and the name cex has been repeated now several times.

if you really hate cex you should stop saying their name every 5 seconds, as it's just making them more and more money by making more people aware of their shops.

Not really, it's negative publicity because it also highlights what they are charging for secondhand nextgen consoles. That is also being mentioned in the same chatter.
