The vehicle must be registered in the disabled person’s name or their nominated driver’s name. It must only be used for the disabled person’s personal needs. It can’t be used by the nominated driver for their own personal use.

Last time I checked with RSA (2 years ago) they told me categorically that unless a driver was named on their policy they could not drive the car. DOC cover is not valid on a motability policy.

True, not sure why I forgot that as I have a disabled disc in my own car!If the car in question is a motability car then yes DOC isn't allowed. But you can have a disabled tax disc on a privately owned car, where DOC cover would be adequate for insurance purposes.
