*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

I've not noticed any wear but I'll go home tonight and have a look. Honestly I'd be annoyed if there was any, it's not really acceptable given the amount of R&D they put into the DS4.

Mine still look like new, despite heavy use... maybe its my baby soft skin :D

I'm desperate for a new game, having only KZ-SF and AC4... I'm not keen on Knack, COD or BF4 so I'm thinking about NFS-R.. I've never played a NFS game before, and have only played Forza over the past five years, so am not sure if its going to be worth a punt. What is the consensus here?.. worth a try or wait for a better driving game with Driveclub?... is it totally 'arcade' or is the driving satisfying?

It's totally arcade with no in car cam at all. Tried it round a mates house and it wasn't for me. Looked like a pretty average arcade racer with a spread sheet overlay, there is literally that much stuff constantly popping up on the screen.

Wondered if my fellow PS4 Players could help me out with a decision.

I have a launch PS4 with FIFA 14 and Assassins Creed 4 and I am looking to purchase or have purchased for me an additional game for christmas. I cant decide between Killzone or Battlefield 4.

I have no experience with the Killzone franchise and the only Battlefield game I have owned was the original 1942.

I don't class my self as a FPS Officianado, and have a wide ranging interest in games prefering games with more of a narrative. The last FPS I played to completion was Bioshock Infinite.

I guess Killzone is more 'up my street' as its a single player experience predominately but I am worried that I will play through it once and never pick it up again. I know with Battlefield the Multiplayer is the main focus which in theory has more longevity and therefore is better value but im not sure Im going to buy into the franchise.

What I would like to know is peoples general impressions of both games especially if you have both, and have similar tastes to me. Specific impressions of Killzone Multiplayer and Battlefield 4 Singleplayer is also appreciated.

Neither, download War Thunder which is free 2 play. Damn good game!

Stopped past <high street videogame retailer> on my walk to the office this morning, was going to pick up another PS4 game (NFS rivals or AC Black Flag - can't decide, any recommendations welcome) and was literally shocked at how they are selling everything PS4 related for £5-10 more than RRP.

DS4s were £59.99, the DS4 charging stand was £34.99, NFS and AC were £59.99 each, COD ghosts was £62.99 for the standard edition. When the assistant asked if he could help me, I said that he could help me understand their price gouging. He couldn't, fair enough - it isn't his fault. I'll take my money elsewhere.
Ridiculous company, lets save ourselves from re-entering administration by pushing all the customers away.

Anyone got need for speed rivals? What are the physics like? They identical to the last game? It's the only thing putting me off, it's a lot of money to be disapointed. No demo either :(

Coming to the end of Ass Creed now.

I think it's great but it is very arcade in handling and Physics. It's Most wanted and Hot pursuit combined. It's great fun.

It does still need a patch to sort the stuttering though. It was promised but as of yet nothing has been released.

Edit - Just progressed into the higher level racer races and the game has become very annoying for me. No matter what car you have and how fast every other car is quicker and you have to use turbo to stand a chance. Also the Police have now gone full on berserk. In a race they will target nothing but you and will throw everything at you no matter what. The Heat level goes up at a silly rate. When you are racing in a pack it's annoying that the police are just targeting you with everything they have.

The game was fine until I advanced on and now just feel a bit cheated. I'm not enjoying it as much now as every race is the same.

I could never get on with the handling in the last NFS game (was it Most Wanted?) as I found the steering weird, though Rivals is a lot tighter, but still very arcadey.

+1

Best game on the console once you get into it can't believe it's free could easily get £30+ for it imo it's a quality game.

It's been that way ever since online retailers came about. If I ever had to choose a physical shop to buy from it would be a supermarket they are usually the cheapest as they compete with each other and the supermarket buying power is insane.

Otherwise hotukdeals, play asia and amazon are where you should be looking 95% of the time

You can say the shop..

GAME?

Not sure if this his been posted, but it's been found out that Foxconn employees are selling off sets of 10 official replacement analogue sticks for a tenner:

Some guy on reddit order them and confirmed it, but he got given 20 instead of 10. I only see my left thumb stick wearing down, so 10 replacements should last ages. I've ordered them, will see how they go.

Cheers for that, just ordered some, will see how it goes with mine flaking off.

Agreed. I never expected amazon prices, but it just seems crazy that within 100 yards there is HMV and Argos both selling PS4 games/accessories for £5-10 less.

Guess the competitor mentioning-rules have been relaxed? Yes, game.

Need some help on choice. I could buy NBA 2K14 for the PS3 for £25, then upgrade for £12 or I could just buy the PS4 copy for £45 and have it match my other PS4 game, silly but OCD and I need my cases to match :D

Or should I even buy NBA? I love basketball, but I was considering Killzone. I have FIFA currently.

looking at all the other items that guy has for sale, i don't think they are genuine parts, rather someone has took a DS4 apart gave a tooling company the stick and told him he wants 10,000 of them made which he then gets for like 10p each and then sells on at £1 each.

when i ordered my replacement DS3 sticks the colour of the plastic was slightly different, but they worked exactly like the originals.

I posted a Very.co.uk 30 pound off 60 spend a few pages back. I got that years subscription AND the final season of Breaking Bad for 30 pounds total (new customers only). They also do PS4 games as well though.

Could I technically buy NBA 2K14 PS4 version from here for £30? Being the game is £55 on there, I'd obviously have to spend a further £5, I'm also a new customer.

Try and buy it on PS3 second hand with an unused upgrade code for like £10-£15.

Personally I don't like buying upgrade copies as they are digital yet still require you keep the disc for them to work.

So you ca never sell the ps4 copy on, and if you sell the ps3 copy on you will get naff all for it and you can't play the ps4 version again.

So I would try and either get the ps3 version for as cheap as possible or buy the ps4 version, so you can sell it on for a decent price.

With games that are released yearly, I try and sell them 4 months before the newest release comes out on ebay. So i get 8 months of play, and a decent amount of cash back for them to go towards the next version.

These companies make far too much money pumping out the same game every year with a few tweaks added to it which would have been added through updates.

no NHL or wipeout. Must admit first PlayStation I've owned and not had these two games pretty much the second I've got it... missing wipeout , thankfully ps vita fills that void.

but no ice hockey, damn shame, better at hockey then FIFA but boy I think FIFA on ps4 is one good looking and great to play football gsme IMO..

I'm going to get NBA 2K14. Buying it 2nd hand though. £45 is too much :p
