No you buy with in-game credits as with the previous games. The principle is the same- win races, win credits and get high-end prize cars.

In previous games I tended to only use credits to buy standard cars and tune them for racing. The high-end cars all came as prizes. Credits never really a problem at all.

All the desirable high-end and classic cars are priced very high in the dealers in, the same as other GTs, but in GT6 if the prize lists I've seen are to be believed, it looks like you get very few of them as race series prizes. So it's lots of grind, or stump up real cash for credits. Or glitch while you can.

here is some info. same process for whichever car you use. if confirmed the BMW M4 would be the best since cheaper to initially buy

one important thing: do not have one of the glitch vehicles selected as your current vehicle before you unpatch. this will crash the game in 1.0 since PS3 won't recognize which car you are in.

in a nutshell:

1. Buy 1 M4 in 1.01. (don't select to drive it)
2. delete Game data utility files (not Save game data!)
3. restart game in v1.0 and sell car to get 20 million (it sells for over 330m cr. but there is a 20m cr limit)
4. Go back to 1.01, spend that whole 20 million on M4's, which would be 166 M4's
5. Re-do the glitch and for every M4 you sell in v1.00 buy a 20 million dollar car (ie Ferrari P330, Ford GT40 etc...)
6. Go back to 1.01 and now you have 166 20 million credit cars with a resale value of 6 million each.

in step 5 you could also just buy the cars you want in v1.0 as you sell your glitched cars for 20m each. if you do you will just need to update the images back in 1.01. can take some time if garage is huge

I have a retail copy. can't confirm but I read on GT planet thread that some managed to do it with DL version. just takes longer to reinstall/dl game all the time. just don't accept to patch to 1.01. otherwise get a disc from a friend

just do it quick because Sony will patch this asap. this info is everywhere on the net. lol even IGN made a video

it's a lot worse in GT6

they greatly reduced the number of prize cars

more expensive cars to buy

finishing single player you wont afford an expensive 20m car

online racing cr rewards are just as low as ever

seasonal payouts are dire as well

and to top it off, seems there is a bug where cars need 500k body restore every 350 miles, meaning running a Audi e-tron in S class you actually lose money

while it's true in real motorsports to make a small fortune you need to start with a big one, the "real driving simulator" shouldn't try to emulate that, since this is a game afterall

This is exactly why I'm going to CRglitch it tonight^^^
Online racing since Saturday and have earned about 10k from it! some races I've only received 700crs for wining!

seems PD servers are down. can't connect online to GT6 yet PSN is working.

patch coming our way I think or maybe PD servers crashed with all the people re-downloading patch

redownloading 16gb seems a bit pointless.. :/ I'd better grind the 30k/min one lol. in the time it'll take me to redownload and install (2-3hrs) I'll have the same amount in the end

Is it an option to pop the 1.01 patch onto a USB drive to cut out the download time?

dunno, I was only able to copy my save game file to USB wasn't able to copy game data files.

maybe there is another way, some mentioned using 2 PS3 (one with v1.0 and other v1.01). I have 2, however the problem my FAT has a dead blu ray drive

so not able to test

The size of download is the only thing holding me back now, I have rural internet

it'll literally take all night and most of the following morning to download it again.

I'm sat here hovering over the delete option

I did the glitch 2x, bought 20x mercs 1st time with the cash then turned 2 of them into cars and mods and the other 18 mercs into X1 cars to sell over time to get future cash.

40 million in cars and parts, 20m cash and 30m in backup x1 cars.

Took about 90 mins including downloading patch 2x.

I'm going to install 1.0 on my second PS3 (used as a bedroom media conter) and see if I can glitch without redownloading the patch.

If it works, I don't see how PD can ever truly patch this unless they find a way to make patch downloads mandatory. And that would seem impossible if the PS3 isn't connected to the 'Net anyway.

You need the patch 1st to get the mercedes car to do the glitch with. Unless you are on slow internet the download only takes 30 mins on 6mb internet.

Do the glitch 2x and you have about £500 worth of credits in under 2 hours.

It would be easy to patch too, all PD would need to do is change the save format in a newer patch and the save wont load anymore on v1.

EDIT: Although, if you have PSN Plus you could download the save to the other PS with v1 of the game then upload it back to the other console with the patch on it. Idk if theres still a 1 move a day limit on save files tho on psn plus.
