I really like mine.

Surface Pro 2 is at risk of being replaced with an ultrabook

Cant work out how to change the camera from rear to front facing I must be bit think lol.
Only thing that dont like on the tablet is it gets quite hot on back right side when gaming worries me a bit hear no fans either.
When I use my surface 2 pro now it looks massive an heavy not using as a tablet anymore perfering the Dell.

On the lock screen if you swipe down instead of up it opens a different camera app with different options, one of them being switch camera.

Edit: actually you just need to flick up from the bottom of the screen in the camera app to get it to show the extra buttons

I have no idea either about swapping the camera. I think the front one is used for skype.

It does get very hot on the back....

My surface 2 pro gets very hot to if you lay it flat on its back when gaming I was shocked with the heat.
Wouldnt like to put either into a case when under heavy use really.

To give you a baseline my 64 GB MMC:

Its possible the 32 GB version might be slower, sometimes the case larger = faster.

Thanks, looks pretty solid, at the very least!

What's the aspect ratio of the screen, compared to other tablets? Similar to the N7 or iPad Mini?

It's 8" 16x9 but it's fatter than the N7 but not as much as the Mini. It feels somewhere in-between the two.

I have had the new and old Nexus 7 and an Ipad mini non retina and the Dell is so much nicer to use. Once you get the hang of it that is. There is no guide as to speak and learning to use Win 8 by touch alone is quite a challenge but when you do it works so well you can see why MS have been pushing touch devices. I have a few minor niggles but nothing like the Horrid digitizer on the 2013 Nexus or the limits of IOS. Having full win 8.1 means you can do pretty much everything you can do on your desktop on this.

Having full steam running is so much better than an Android app and web browsing with no restrictions is so much nicer. You can play anything by installing codecs the same as Pc.

Although it is only 1280x800 Win 8 seems to really make the best of the res and for me this feels as high res as the 1080p Nexus if not better in clarity and colour.

Really impressive tablet for the money and I'm more than happy if you had not guessed.. :D

Thanks.

Finally (I think!), how well have Microsoft done in creating an OS which is minimal maintenance? Something I do like about my iPad is that you rarely need to update, it won't slow down significantly with age, and you don't need to be too concerned about viruses.

Clearly, as this is full-on Windows 8, it's more open so I assume that virus scanners are still necessary. Aside from that though, is it significantly better in terms of slowing down with age, and updating itself every single day than previous iterations of Windows? I've not used Windows frequently for about a year now so am a little out of touch.

It works identical to a desktop so Virus scanners etc can be installed to preference. I just use Windows defender. Windows update is done the same as well but is managed better on Win 8.

It runs windows 8.1 as well as my desktop. It's very snappy and I have not seen any slowdown other than trying to run PC games :D

It's not as easy to use as an Ipad and takes a bit of getting used too and a few googles to work out how things are done by touch. But it all makes sense once you have worked it out and even Metro works very well.

The lack of Apps on the Windows store is not really an issue when you can just run the full software.

Great, thanks - I'm sure I'll be able to work out how to use it!

By slowdown, I more meant whether Win 8 has any issues with slowing down over time as it gets clogged up, as previous versions of Windows did. I remember it getting to the stage where I was reinstalling every 6 months or so just to keep it running well. That was before SSDs (or in this case MMCs), though, so I imagine that that isn't as much of an issue now?

Think my pen is not working right using one note is horrible to write anything is seems to be always active just moving the pen over the screen leaves pen lines all over the place looks a mess compared to my surface 2 pro which works great an feels nice writing on the screen.
An in desktop its selecting things all by itself this cant be normal got to be faulty im going to get a replacement.
Have not installed the lastest firmware yet need see if there is any drivers for the pen as its useless more I use the stupid pen the worst it gets lol.

Just used the Dell pen cabibration tool the pen seems to be working ok now not as good as the surface pro though.
Can write ok in one note an its not selecting things by its self werid thing is thats what it did when I first used the pen.

Update pen has messed up again doing same rubbish got to faulty seems like ive got same problems with the stylus as other have moaned about online for desktop use an clicking on menus its usless for things like one note its just about useable.

Just emailed Dell to get a full refund for this piece of junk stlyus not even worth a £1.

Actually never mind, getting nexus 7 for sensibilities sake. I sold the laptop because i never used it so whats the point in me getting a windows tab at the moment lol :)

Does look like a really nice bit of kit though, maybe in the future when i want portability again i could look at something like this instead of a new laptop.
