Intel Haswell Refresh Lineup For Q2 2014 Unveiled – Core i7-4790 Leading The Pack

I'll be sticking with my 3770K. Nothing else interests me at the moment and i don't think there's any other CPU that would make a worthwhile upgrade either.

Playing games i see there is no reason for me to upgrade until the 6-8 core Wellsburg's come out next year with DDR4 support.. until then my i7 should still be fine right? I'll probably buy that Corsair XMS3 6gb triple channel kit in the sale to replace my current low 3gb set, maybe change out my graphics card in between.

Then get at least 12 or 16gb when i replace the rest of the system next year. Seems like a good idea? I think that would give a noticable boost in everything. Whereas if i changed out my whole system now, i don't think there would be much difference in games etc..

4820K is a great overclocker. :D (I run mine at 5Ghz 24/7 without trouble).
Also 4820K has broken quite a few overclocking records.

4930K though, isn't, due to the fact that is 50% bigger, generating more heat and power. However most can get to 4600 without trouble.
And 4960X is just "eXotic".

Very true, I mustn't put the 4820k in the same comparison as that is a superb chip and probably the success of the Ivy-E launch. The 4930k and 4960x unless one is lucky and gets a good clocker, do not seem to reach 5Ghz+ as easily as SB-E versions. This makes their benefit over SB-E versions very marginal.

Well if the upgrade itch gets to much, still don't like the Haswell lottery + heat. Might consider a 4820k with the AsusX79 Deluxe mobo Gold and all, it gets some nice reviews.:)

So let me see if I got this, A 100 MHZ clock increase and a name change with no architectural changes ?
If so then they might aswell include a tube of lubricant with each purchase, Seriously pathetic.

Just get the 4770k now tbh.

Depends what you are currently running though. If you are running a 2500K with a decent OC on it going to a 4770K is in my eyes a pointless upgrade for the money you would have to shell out for a new mobo + CPU and likely RAM unless you are already sitting on some 2133 or higher, or if you have some very good clocking 1600.

In real terms if you went from a 2500K @ 4.8 to a 4770K how much performance increase would you see other than in synthetic benchmarks ?

To the naked eye I doubt you would see any
