If 4k really is the not so distant future then GPU's need a big performance increase to cope with modern demanding games at decent fps especially if anyone is thinking of 4k surround.

A forum user of the Chinese tech forum Chiphell posted his unboxing of the Dell 32" 4K mon UP3214Q, and a frame rate test of Crysis 3 in 4K Surround, triple UP3214Q, with 3 Titans in SLI. He tuned all special effects as "very high", and kept MSAA at 2x. The frame rate were around 25-30fps for most of the time. Although as most of you probably agree AA probably wouldn't be needed at 4k so maybe a few fps more in those results in reality..

I think we will need to see what 20nm brings to the table and hopefully it will be a step in the right direction.

Well I could have probably told him that. Before he spent 20 billion yuan or whatever it works out at.

Stupid boy, Pike. I mean wouldn't you try 4k as a resolution as itself first? *Pulls cretinous face*

Tbh I'm actually impressed, that's a silly high resolution I wouldn't expect any of todays offerings to deal with. 25-30 fps is quite admirable.

I can not believe that this guy expected to run 3 x 4K screens off of three cards lol.

At least he did not run out of VRAM lol.

4 Titans should just about cope with one 4k screen running Crysis 3 maxed. Trying to run three screens is "£$%(*& silly.

500 million or more people living below the poverty line but the Chinese have put a rover on the moon. I hope it's not being run by an iphone, you know how bad they can be for getting a signal.:D

The cards we have right now are merely laying the groundwork for 4K / 4K multi-monitor, there are some good ideas in the pipeline that when combined with 20nm should make adoption of 4K pretty fast. Assuming the panel prices trend downward fast enough...
