Wow, driving another wedge between Muslims and the rest of the world. Well done those involved...

M&S clothing isn't doing all that great while their food part is doing well, so they decide to stir this divisive crap up to dent the successful part of the business. Couldn't make it up.
Who are you suggesting is driving the wedge?

It's just a policy put in place to cover their backs should some fool member of staff take them to court because their "rights" were being violated. That staff will just decline to sell it and another staff will make the transaction - Seems simple enough?
On the other side though you have restaurants and stores owned by religious people who are fully licensed to sell Alcohol and will be glad to sell you their stock without kicking up a fuss over which is essentially absolutely a non issue.
It's a business they're running, they're not actually consuming or touching the drink or meat raw so again, to me the people who do decline are just being an arse for the sake of being an arse and causing a scene and those kind of people exist in all beliefs.
It's Islam and it's followers driving wedges. Everywhere you look in Western society, some professional knee jerk offense taking Muslim is whinging about some blasphemy in order to make non Muslims subjugate and sacrifice their equality. They insist we change our culture in order to accommodate theirs. They insist we change our laws in order to accommodate theirs. They insist on special privilege and special treatment. They insist, they insist, they insist. It's about time they were told point blank to **** off !
What laws are those then? I can only think of the Incitement to Religious HatredWe live in a country with many laws and policies which are designed to accommodate people of different faiths and cultures
Why would being a normal customer offend a muslim? If she refuses to serve you then she is the one providing the offence by implicitly disapproving of your purchases. So, I go to M&S, there is a woman wearing a Islamic headwear, do I risk offending her or go to another checkout?
Hi, can you get me 100g of xenophobic please? ThanksCases like this just pander to the xenophobic population's desire to have a white power nation.
It's religious principles, not specifically Islamic ones. Religions often ask for exceptions to rules, such as for marriage. Cases like this just pander to the xenophobic population's desire to have a white power nation.

So do you think condom sales will/should be mitigated for those of a devout Christian background?
'Oh I am sorry I can't sell you those, I'd prefer you get AIDS, its store policy for you to stand and wait embarrassed by your own choices in our store, but we are singling you the customer out, and we'll be along soon with another staff member to serve you, just stand and wait'
That doesn't work though. I don't want a Turkish bloke at my newsagent that doesn't speak English properly and has all his Turkish mates loitering around and speaking other languages. They don't WANT to integrate and so I don't WANT them here.
Not exactly difficult is it. I don't go to turkey and have an English man offering me fish and chips.
The non muslim staff at the check out will be working harder and the muslim working at a snail's pace. What about if you do on-line shopping and find out there is no alcohol or pork because a muslim was doing your shopping.
If she won't do the job she was hired for she should be fired. There are many unemployed people who WILL scan Pork meats & alcohol, Muslim or not. Personal superstitions should not override your contract with your employer.
Who are you suggesting is driving the wedge?
in their decision to allow Muslim staff to refuse to sell you bacon or Alcohol.
What the hell are they thinking![]()
This is going to get some traction I can see it coming.
If I was refused to be sold some product from their store due to the religious beliefs of the checkout staff member serving me, I'd dump the lot there and walk out and shop somewhere else.
PC correctness gone mad!
