M&S have dropped a clanger

If you have your packet of bacon on the conveyor belt and they refuse to take it, would you be in any trouble if you picked up the bacon, scanned it yourself and bagged it?

Since that's all you do on self service checkouts. Just cut out the muslim.

Why is this any different to a Christian Doctor refusing to give an abortion or a christian pharmacist refusing to give the morning after pill? Oh, that's right, it isn't. If they refuse to serve you, you have the right to go somewhere else to get your products. How about you exercise that right rather than running to the internet to cry harder about it?

Your comparing doing an abortion killing na unborn child directly compared to a muslim handling bacon thats WRAPPED in plastic.

Technically selling of goods is 'offering' them out for a price isn't it? Not set in stone?

If that is the case if they refused to serve you, could you not just walk out without paying?

I personally find it astounding in a time when jobs are scarce that employees are allowed to virtually dictate their terms of employment. Clive Bull on LBC just asked this muslim caller "if muslims don't want to sell alcohol and pork, why work there? Why not find another job?" This muslim chap said "Well, its hard to find jobs. But muslims think alcohol is bad for people and we don't want them to have it".

So this muslim did actually say he simply wouldn't work at M&S for those reasons. Fair enough. But his point about it being hard to find jobs. Well, DUH, exactly! Why don't M&S take a hard stance on this very point and stop pussy footing around trying not to upset people. Who are these people to dictate if people should drink alcohol. It's M&S's goods, they sell a lot of it and they're being employed to sell it. If someone worked for me and said they don't like the shirt I'm wearing, it offends them, I'd say suck it up, earn your money or **** off somewhere else and try and find another job.

M&S can do what they want, vote with your feet people and let the Muslims have it all to themselves and sit back and watch it crumble.

Mmmm bacon

I bet I can't find a shop in Stoke where a Muslim won't serve me alcohol.

You obviously won't because it's their livelihood, if they took that attitude they would be out of business. Same as anyone that has a problem doing their job in M&S should also face the consequences.

And this is where we need to get back to the root of the OP.
ONE MUSLIM WOMAN complained and M&S made a mountain out of it.

Wow haha such retardness from m&s. Whilst even serving alcohol is against the teachings of the Islamic faith, if a Muslim was against serving then find another role in the supermarket or job.

But this is ocuk and GD so I expect knee jerk reactions as usual.

Aside from not wanting to sell alcohol and bacon, apparently muslim women aren't meant to talk to men! Yet there are muslim women who work in places like M&S. What workplace is there where you will never come into contact with men? Not many I'm sure. So how are they meant to conduct themselves in the workplace, ignore all men?

Don't muslims realise that they have a choice. To either be TRUE to their religion and DEDICATE themselves to it, or find employment and make compromises. In which case, they're obviously not really following the word of allah to the book and shouldn't be hypocritical.

I'd assume most of their customers are Tory or UKIP voters... it seems a bit silly of them to pander to Muslims - some backtracking is certainly needed after an article in the torygraph...
