Is Xmas magical anymore?

I still love it, watching Christmas movies (I love the classics like Mickey's Christmas Carol, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer & Frosty), the food & just the good feeling in the air. :)

Thanks for reminding me to cancel my Amazon Prime trial :)

Oh crap... This just reminded me.

Why does it say I'll be charged 2014? I thought I only had a month free. Oh man. :(

Edit: Never mind, cancelled and refunded. :p

Compared to the UK, even Auschwitz feels Christmassy. The worst thing is hearing those awful dross Christmas songs in the shops.

It's true the older you get the less festive it feels.

I have always been a massive Christmas lover, I felt it being magical most my life but once I hit my mid 20's it seemed to lose it's magical feeling.

Don't get me wrong, I still love it but it's not the same.

It's too over commercialised now, I mean adverts on TV before Halloween has even finished, the fact we have had a recession which I feel still effects people and businesses, local council's cutting back on festivities due to not wanting to offend. It all adds up.

Christmas,Valentines Day, Easter, Halloween etc.

All have the same purpose, for you to spend a shed load of money on things you otherwise wouldn't buy.

Christmas doesn't really feel "Christmassy" anymore for me but thats because I'm older and find it hard to believe in Santa (I try!! :o )

Perhaps if I have kids one day it will all come back for now I'll just enjoy the good food and a few days on my arse in front of the tv.

This year is the first time I've spent Xmas eve alone. I just can't be bothered to go out as I feel so tired. Had mum move away, couple of grandparents die this year so it just doesn't have that 'feel'.

For me birthdays are more personal and will always have more kudos.

I'll buy kids gifts etc but it has lost it this year for me.

Doesn't feel that christmasy this year but thats partly due to not really making an effort and now working a job where I don't get much time off over christmas.

I do miss the christmases from when I was a very young child though - can just about remember them - back then most of the family had the time off so everyone could come down and get together, my grandparents had a big old house so loads of people could stay for 2-3 days either side of christmas, the one time of the year they had a proper open fire, etc. etc.

As you get older Christmas becomes less and less of an event, especially if you don't have kids.

I think this year as well because I've spent so much on my house (garage/solar panels/bathroom) I'm having to be really stringent on it. Few years ago I bought my mum a car for xmas but struggling to afford any more than perfume now.

haven't even put my tree up this year! Think that's another reason.

I see grown men where I work get caught up in it big time, getting realy excited etc one guy in postroom must be over 40 and put up one of those chocolate calendars.

35 here and still get a chocolate advent calendar. In fact my wife, son and I have one at home and I have one at work.
