Nasty nasty warranty sticker

Removing warranty stickers/seals and than reattaching them after tampering with the product before returning to the manufacturer is fraud, I'm surprised that the moderators of this forum allow this practise to be promoted.

Re-applying thermal paste is hardly tampering with the product, likewise for people wanting to attach after market cooling. It really sucks to put a warranty sticker on the screws

If that is your opinion very well. I pay money for hardware. I have a right to use and modify it. If it breaks, I have a right to send it back for RMA.

They test it; if it was damaged due to my negligence, so be it.
If it was damaged due to a manufacturing defect, so be it.

That is how it should be. Blanket bans and restrictions should be consigned to history. Does a warranty sticker even have any legal basis? Because I know that often 'Terms of Service' are not legally binding, and I would not be surprised if warranty stickers followed a similar precedent.

xfx are fine with removing stock coolers as long as you let them know.
After registering your card just send a support ticket and let them know. job done.

I've been reading into this and MSI are fine with you disturbing the sticker to remove the cooler, as long as you don't physically damage the card. Result :)

I think that might be XFX US/NA, not sure about Europe. Either way the card is on water and running like a dream. Thanks for the feedback btw.

Yep, the stickers on MSI cards are in place for the Asian market, who aren't allowed to remove the cooler while retaining warranty :)

XFX did replace my 3 month old dead PSU (a month later) but then proceeded to send me one that was dead on arrival so got sent back to OC the next day for a refund. Now have a Be Quiet unit that will hopefully fare better!

When I RMA'd it the first time in November, I was interested to note that there was suddenly very little XFX stuff on the OC website ...
