*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

I'd be tempted to go with the i9505 myself - you KNOW it has lots of ROMs, etc, and with the S5 coming in the not too distant future I dont know how much effort they would put towards ROMs for the i9506.

I would definitely go with the 9505, its so well supported by devs its unreal, there are dozens of ROMs you could use not to mention the fact there's a google play edition which I suspect it's incredibly unlikely will appear for the 9506 (meaning you can very quickly get a totally stock ROM that works 100% for the 9505).

There are fringe benefits to the 9506 such as the slightly faster CPU (which has never ever been any sort of issue on my 9505, or my slower Moto X for that matter) but LTE-A will be a long time coming here if ever and the lack of support (even unlocking will almost certainly be different due to different chipsets) just doesn't make it worth it for the bragging rights of a CPU hardly anyone outside of enthusiasts will have ever heard of let alone know the benefits of that you couldn't possibly ever demonstrate!

Starting to question why I use Omega after today. Tried to use DLNA and Screen Mirroring with no luck - both don't work with Omega (as well as NFC and possibly more). Can I install a stock 4.3 ROM on the old bootloader? Or is there a pre rooted ROM that doesn't have features disabled?

Yeah I meant NFC wallet and searched the Omega thread regarding the screen mirroring thread, lots of people said it connected then disconnected straight away (as it did with me) plus DLNA simply doesn't turn on for me (as I have seen on others with Omega though first hand and not searching the thread). On Goldeneye ROM, flawless. Those issues aside, I have been getting quite a few lock ups and reboots with recent releases of Omega.

My S4 has gone to Orange for repair as the battery had swelled and pushed the screen up so it was dislocated from the unit.

Due to it going to take 3 weeks, I've decided to get a Nexus 5 and sell the S4 once I get it back. I love the S4 but reading what some issues some people have had, I've decided to go for the Nexus 5 (plus the Nexus has 32GB instead of 16GB on the S4)

Been contemplating the same myself since this crud camera on the S4 seems to blur everything these days :(

well i put mine on charge the other day and woke up with a swollen battery and smashed screen but only the inside touch screen and not the outer screen. Could this of caused it?

I have rooted mine and flashed it though:(
cant even see the screen to reflash a stock rom.

Mine is before knox was about though.

I might try EE shop first and see what they say. If not im insured with natwest but its a £75 excess

not sure how to do that!? ive got clockwork and custom rom installed.

just need to get it back to stock.

ps do you know if you can still flash custom roms on the new S4's in case they just replace the whole thing

What's the situation regarding the battery swelling (too many pages to go back on)? Mine's started to get fatter :(

Seems that it was only batteries with serial codes starting with BD that were affected, I guess yours is one of them?

Get onto whoever you bought the phone from and get a replacement shipped out ASAP. If the shop won't play ball then contact Samsung directly for a replacement. :)

I wrote the s/n down and altho I can't remember it I'm sure it began with BD. The nearest service center is about 8 miles away so I might just pop down there and get a straight swap.

Thanks fella.

*edit* yep, it's a BD serial number :(
