New gfx. 290>780?

I was thinking of upgrading my classified to a 780ti but staying with the 780 classi they are great cards runs every on ultra settings with 2560*1080 will be adding another

I've sold my 7990 and making do with my first nvidia in years, a gtx 580 (not a bad card tbh) and am in the same boat! I keep on reading up on cards and am undecided which to get. I do like the ti but the price difference is a bit much to swallow.

Well I'm sending back my faulty Gigabyte 780 GHz tomorrow by DSR. I know it's faulty, but can't be bothered waiting for them to test it etc

I was 100% certain that I was going to get a 290 Tri X Sapphire, but after hearing these reports on dodgy 290's I think I will go with another 780, maybe the EVGA 780 SC ACX.

Does that mean that the etailer are unaware it's faulty and will then be sold to some other poor sod who then finds they have a faulty unit graphics card, or is it still possible under a DSR return to mark the card as faulty? Never used DSR before

The problem is I don't know if I'll see the benefit of a Ti at my res 1900*1200:confused:

You will only see the benefit in a handful of the most GPU demanding games that are out now...
But it All goes by what games you play and if your one these people that must have all your game details settings to max.........;)

For me I always pay well over the top for my GPU's because I love knowing that any game I install/play I can just throw all the graphic settings to max without needing to worry about it..

Just thought I'd add... I have my XFX 290 flashed to 290x and have had zero problems with it. Haven't bothered overclocking it though.

Pretty sure that's what happened to me! They are aware that it's faulty though.

Well now I've done it.

Ordered the EVGA Ti780. :D

Figured it would be well future proofed.

With the (hopefull) sale of my 680 and xmas cash shouldn't be too much of an outlay. We will see.

I've recently gone from Gigabyte 670 > XFX 7990 > MSI 780.

I'm certainly happier with my 780 than I was with the 7990 and manage to take advantage of the price hike to sell at a profit and pay for the 780 and still come out £100 better.

After flashing with a custom bios i've been able to push it to 1197/1722 and it's running like a champ and silent - seriously good thing after the 7990.

780 is what I would have recommended too. 290's don't seem to warrant the stability issues, the high temps and high noise just to get 3 extra fps over a 780.
