Ah, very good points! Having not tried JJ or anything outside of the chinese garbage, I've no idea what league any of these juices are, but I'll take your word on that, especially on the feedback I've read about Snake Oil. Anyway, I'm delighted Simon is such an efficient and generous vendor to do this. I'm pretty sure I'll end up buying a 30ml bottle. Now I just need to get away from these ivods and buy a good glass tank atty and mod to vape the snake oil :)

Another up vote for Snake Oil, taste is subjective but for me it takes a big dump on anything I have tried yet and is the only juice apart from Scopes that I felt the extra cost was justified, such a nice complex flavour that makes a refreshing change from all the sickly sweet juices.
I don't bother with the glass bottle neither, just go for the 50ml refill bottle for £19, good value.

I have been looking for a good mint / menthol concentrate, I have tried the joosejuice ones (not bad), Flavourart menthol arctic (nicer than joosejuice but could be better), I also have some capella cool mint in the post... these menthol crystals look interesting, wish I knew about that before buying all the mint concentrates. How much do you use?

Guys, I've put together my shopping list which in fact, I posted at UKV. They've helped me a lot so far and I know I'm definitely buying the Vamo V5 SS kit at £54.99 from myepack, unless I find it cheaper.

The guys there have given me food for thought regarding the tank and dripper and I'd be interested in further opinions from here before I press the buy buttons. I was considering the Protank 2, as it's glass and you can change the drip tip. They've recommended AnyVape Davide BDC ASPIRE Tank, which is basically the same. Apparently the Protank 2 has an airy draw and the Davide a tighter draw, but I don't know what draw I prefer. Only have the evod to judge by, but that seems fine to me and I don't know if I'd prefer a more airy draw or not. Any opinions or general preference on those tanks? One person said he has the protank and the davide, prefers the davide and never gets burnt tastes.

The dripper I'm considering is either the Phoenix SS RBA, http://www.vapingthings.com/PHOENIX_SS_REBUILDABLE_ATOMISER/p1311952_7880563.aspx

but I was recommended the IGO-L
http://www.vapegear.co.uk/product/igol

as it's apparently bigger and easier to work with. Any opinions or general preference on those, or any other dripper?

Would it be better to get a dripper that has holes in the screw posts for threading the wire instead of wrapping the wire around the posts?

Thanks!

Ok so I didn't end up buying one of these, I mentioned it to my brother in law and he just gave me his because he doesn't use it.

I have no idea what make/model it is but it looks almost identical to this:

fqwj.jpg

It all comes apart so all bits are replacable. It came with a USB charger thing which you screw the battery into. I bought a case for it and I bought some fluid from across the road to his house which is some "Liquita L&B 18mg (10ml)" for about £3.

The lady in the shop said that my wick didn't need replacing because I thought I'd ask before filling it.

In the shop when I tried it it tasted very nice and I am not finding it as nice now I'm using it. In fact I'm finding it makes me wheeze and gives me a very dry throat.

I'm wanting to know if people think it's because of the device I'm using or because of the liquid? Because whichever it is I would like to change it.

I'm thinking that the liquid I tried in the shop was 12mg but the stuff I have been sold is 18mg, could this be the reason?

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

G

I've got a Vamo and I do like it I guess, however. It's very big, and very long and round, and it feels like a lightsaber, especially in 18650 mode. As such I never really took it out with me. In fact the only time I will take it out is in 18350 mode, with a dripper on.

I would normally take my mechanicals instead, but they can be a mild pain sometimes and you lack a small amount of safety. I'm a huge fan of my MVP2.0 so far, it's about the same height as the Vamo in 18350 mode but obviously square and much wider.

Some people don't get on with the shape, I was a bit dubious at first but it grew on me and I decided to get one.

However if you like the Vamo better that deal from myepack is really good, when I got mine it came with unbranded 18350s and an unbranded charger, those batteries and charger in the deal now are miles better. I bought the same charger and it's great. And the Vamo itself is great too it's just be whole robot **** thing I don't like!

It does go to higher watts and voltage than the MVP as well (but both go as high as I need out of a VV/VW mod).

As for the dripper I'd definitely recommend an IGO-L, I use it the most out of all my drippers as I only really build single coils and it's a great atty. Easy to build on, looks good on everything, deep enough drip well, it's great. Not a bad word to say about it.

As for post holes, I'm not really fussed honestly. I've got drippers both with and without and I don't really mind either way.

It's a little easier to build with post holes I guess, but it's easier to over tighten and chop your wire too, so it's swings and roundabouts. My IGO-L is a clone, I don't know the genuine ones have post holes or not but mine doesn't and it doesn't bother me.

PardonTheWait, thanks for the tips. Sounds like the IGO-L is the one to get then. Out of interest, which drippers do you have with the post holes?

edit: bah, just noticed the Davide tank is bottom dual coil, hence BDC in the name. I think I should go with the Protank 2 then, as dual coil will be tricky to recoil won't it, for a noob?

Further to this, I have just spent some time taking the whole thing apart, giving it a very thorough clean and re-filling it, it produces more vapour now, but it still makes me wheeze.

When you tried it in the shop what did you try it in a different atomiser?

Yeah they just had a tester one that they screwed onto my battery.

Also she put some in mine and I thought it was better then too. I am sure that was 12mg.

This bottle says 18mg.

It will give you a dry throat... That is the PG... Also 18mg can be a bit harsh on the throat if you vape that a lot... Try 12-14mg instead.

Drink some water and do not vape it constantly and it is not too bad....

Too much PG = dry throat etc.
Too much VG = Nasty taste / saliva in your throat / tongue.

I mix it at about 70/30 PG VG and try not to vape excessively (excessively would be chain vaping for multiple hours)... Every time I do that, I will get sore throat and nasty taste in mouth etc. Also if I do it too much eventually I can't taste hardly anything at all for about 24 hours... If I did not get side effects I would probably vape it 24/7. :D

If you want convenience get the protank (using outside etc) If you want optimal flavour etc. get the dripper. Or just get both and use one outside and one when at home. I have a protank 2 mini which I plan to keep for outside and should eventually get a Vamo with a dripper for home use.

IGO L & Aspire/Davide.
The replacement coils aren't impossible to recoil yourself, just very fiddly - check UKVapers forum for the guide. The extra hassle is offset by the increased warmth, flavour and vapour production the the BDC offers over the Protank heads.

snake oil is in a different league to JJ. Simon also lurks this thread. ;)

@RedMogg how can you forget the fizzy snake lol

Oops - how could I? Even that little extra touch just goes miles to adding to the "Premium Juice" reputation of Simon/Tmax.

I have a Mini ProTank 2 starter kit coming in the morning. Just enjoying my last stinky right now (I hope).

Looking forward to renewed taste buds and even looking forward to the "lung purge".

Here's to quitting the deadly sticks.

I've done in depth research and looked at several videos of the Davide. I appreciate it's meant to be the dogs.
Honestly though? I don't think it's for me. I can't find the guide you mentioned, but I think it'll be too much hassle, especially with two coils to faff around with, plus the wires have insulators to put on, plus there seems to be extra white material in the heads which will also probably need replacing. From what I've read, people have a poor success rate with how many heads actually work in a pack of 5 spares, and anyway I'd prefer to get into recoiling and wicking myself, but with something manageable. I don't really like the look of it. The Protank 2 seems easier to maintain and looks a wee bit nicer to me. What I would really like is something with an adjustable airflow so I can see if I prefer airy or tighter draws. Checked out the Fogger 2 which looks aesthetically very pleasing, has airflow and single coil, but I believe it's junk which is a pity, as it would have been perfect. (edit: actually it would be no good, can't see the juice in the tank when it's assembled). Checked out the Magoo-S by iSmoka, beautiful looking, but plastic tank and only a slit of it visible. I can't find a tank that ticks all the boxes, lol. Will probably just end up with the Protank 2 and be done with it.

Hmm, just found this, looks great, better than the PT2. I might buy it. http://www.justvape.co.uk/product/justvape-protank/

I had the same problem with the wheezing when I first started, tried everything, changing liquids, strength and devices. PG was the problem for me anything above 30%PG still makes me wheeze. When I mix my own I do 100% VG baring the flavor concentrates. I have no problems with the 100% VG, most of what I vape now is 100% VG & no wheezing

@ majnu, Did you get my email mate or did you get it sorted?

Had a first 18650 explode on me during Xmas holidays. Always presumed it was an urban myth, but it happened in most lucky unlucky situation.

Had a couple of Kamry branded 2000mAh 18650 batteries, as a manufacturers supplied set with K600. Used them for maybe 45 days, no more than 15 chargings in total. About two weeks prior to "incident" one of the batteries became warm while I was carrying it in my pocket. Not hot, just warm to touch, I thought maybe I shortened it somehow with keys inside my pocket, loaded it up into Vamo and discharged through the day. Approx 5 chargings later, I put the same battery into K200+ and placed it with fresh iClear 16 inside pocket behind drivers seat in my car to have a spare for my trip to Europe during Xmas. The K200+ was set to off.

Several days later, boxing day, I was driving at night and suddenly smelled something burning. Whiff of hot metal turned into reek of melting plastic, then strong, distinctive stink of something acidic added to the mix. I stopped and started looking around the car, under the bonnet, nose to dashboard, maybe some wiring had gone wrong, then I suddenly remembered about the K200+ in drivers seat pocket.

The battery exploded ripping vented top off the battery, inside the now bulging K200+. Alloy body stopped most of the discharge force, the whole thing became very hot, burnt all the electronics inside the mod, melted few CDs, bag of leather wipes and eco leather lining inside the seat pocket. It was still red hot and steaming for good 10-20 minutes after I evacuated the device with help of heavy duty gloves and microfibre cloth I found in the boot out of the car. Hate to think what would happen if it was bare or inside lighter mod and/or unattended. I keep saying, this tech is not consumer ready.

Not good, but maybe you should be using better batteries and mod, not worth buying cheap ones when stuff like that can happen. Everyone says not to use anything except good IMR batteries and a good charger or you are asking for problems.

Just a quick update tried the kendal mint cake from Mrs Lord as well last night/today and the flavour is beautiful, a nice note of peppermint on the first hit, slight menthol cool on the exhale and a fresh taste of mint left afterwards, thoroughly enjoyable.

I have also just ordered a Hcigar Kraken Clone, a starter pack of wire/wick from the vape mesh company and am looking for a dripping atomiser that isn't horrendously expensive, seen the IGO-L mentioned around here but not overly keen on the looks.
