Crucial M500 not showing in Windows

Hey guys, bought an M500 to replace the mechanical drive in my new laptop but im having issues.

I created a Windows 8 boot USB and tried to install windows on the new drive, but it comes up with an error and wont complete. (All it says is an error has occurred after it checks the partitions, no other details)

Now ive got the SSD plugged into my main computer, the firmware has been updated and the system can detect the drive in the BIOS, and in the Hardware list, but nothing is showing up under My Computer. It knows the drive is there but it wont seem to let me use it. Any advice?

look in disk management then initialise it or assign new drive letter,it'll show up then

EDIT: do that with it connected to pc,once done plug it into the laptop

Ah brilliant, much obliged sir! Showing now Fingers crossed it works in the laptop now.
