Hi,
So I have the superflower 1300w set up in my machine with 3 new r290 cards.
I left it on last night and woke up to a screaming sound coming from my PC. I ran into the office and turned it off. I thought perhaps one of the graphics cards had a problem with the fan, so I took them out one by one and tried each individually, no problems at all.
Then i'm sat, literally browsing overclockers looking for some watercooling solutions when it goes off screaming again. It sounded a little like a pop (kind of like a release of pressure), then a screaming which sounded like a high pitched "psch-choooooooooooo" sound which then continued. My partner in the other room described it as similar to a banshee screaming.
I listened this time for a moment before turning it off, and it's coming from the new PSU. I restarted it, and now it sounds like the fan is grating, I imagine how it would sound if a wire was stuck in it. The fan keeps starting and stopping by the sound of it, after watching a video on here before I expected that to be normal.
I changed the setting from "eco" to "auto" and it is now making the grating noise which it wasn't before.
I'll post up a video, but any ideas?
Perhaps this has to go back, but i'm so so so hacked off about it if it does as I bought it as a quality power supply wanting nothing to go wrong, i'm rather shocked, given how high quality they are meant to be.
Video coming, and I don't know if it's safe to use anymore... hmm.
