My God Damn Computer Chair

Will you be drinking to that? *sigh*

Thanks OP for starting this thread.

Seems I am going to have to save a few more weeks pension.

Was in Staples last Thursday looking at new chairs and just couldn't make up my mind - I was looking at chairs around 100 -150 quid but none had the adjustment of my own chair - Problem I have with my chair it's cloth and looks tatty - the back isn't high enough and hurts my bum.

Was thinking of going back tomorrow but might delay it now following comments so far.

Dave

Edit -- Well well well -- Just thought I would have a good look at my chair - was given to me years ago and it turns out to be a HAG Credo. three levers and three knob.
Even found the hand book in a pouch under the seat.
If only the back lifted up another few inch's ! - See if I can buy some seat covers for it but not hopeful as looking at label underneath it looks like it was made in 1996.

Was thinking the same thing lol.

Avoid chairs from the likes of Ikea, the Markus gets mentioned a lot, but all chairs of that ilk (ie. cheap but with good looks (like a cheap hooker)), end up with padding that's as flat a pancake after a short period. Does the back of the Markus even have adjustable tilt?

I'm not sure why you hate the Markus so much, I've had mine for four years now and it gets used a lot (computer, watching TV, games consoles... even work) and I'm only just thinking about replacing it. The back is adjustable and it's still perfectly comfortable.

No chair for £100 is better than the chair you just bought, nor is it any better than a £20 Argos chair.

Spend £200 plus and get a chair that makes you sit right and reclines properly.

You can pick up a Steelcase refurb on eBay for less than £100.

High end chairs a definitely a must! I bought my current one from staples for £120 on sale from £150. Sure, it's been fine over a year, comfy, sturdy etc.

The only problem I noticed is my keyboard hand going numb when gaming for long periods, as I'm pinching my blood supply at the elbow (strength train so big forearms lol) so a chair with decent features like adjustable arm rests, recline-able etc. are all a must. One investment you want, and one I need to also kick into gear.

I did find a website a while back that seems to have the ones mentioned, a bit pricey but probably the best. Don't think I'm allowed to link them so just search Need for Seat :)

20+ posts in and no mention of the Staples Kashmir chair.

It's a bit over £100 but worth it. The padding gets a bit flat after a while but that's to be expected for the budget.

And the Markus is a nasty chair. Cold and not comfortable at all.

THERE ARE 296 THREADS IN GD WITH THE WORDS "CHAIR" IN THE TITLE

DO WE REALLY NEED ANOTHER ONE?

you broke my caps key you monster!

and 185 of those say "just buy the frackin Kashmir chair and shut up"

As suggested get a second hand Steelcase leap, total comfort and will last forever.

They're good but I'm 6'4" and when I tried one in an office furniture showroom, I didn't think that it felt big enough for me. Maybe this is because I like to recline on my office chair sometimes. The leap doesn't have a headrest either, which puts me off them.

my wheels have snapped as well but if you look they always have chicken **** welds on them if alloy. id re weld them if i had a welder. they are not built to great quality these days. plus im a big ****er and lift weights so that aint helping lol.

Because chairs like that are universally considered poor by those that use them for extended periods of time and have experience of other chairs.

So what you mean is you've never actually used one for an extended period but because it isn't made by a specialist company it automatically sucks?

Also, universally doesn't seem to be what you think it means.

A steelcase leap or HM Aeron/Mirra would be better, but they also cost 5-10x as much.

Love my Obutto seat more than I thought possible, costs a fair bit but it's by far and away the most comfortable thing I've sat in, has all the right support for your back, fully reclines and plenty of padding. Feels like a much better seating position too than a standard desk. The only thing really is the lack of armrests, I have a couple of £10 ebay specials to mod onto my pit but to be honest I've not felt the need yet.
