Inconsiderate neighbour

Tether a ***** horse on his lawn; that should get rid of the grass and the horse when they come looking for it, also quite probably his car.

On the other hand; try talking to him, no joy with that talk to your local council, he may need help or if he's simply idle the environmental health department may be able to force him to clean up. This would be especially the case if he has rubbish in his yard or as you mentioned broken glass which can be viewed as a health hazard.

Do you see the neighbour going out and in etc?

Plenty of old decrepit houses that sound like your neighbours in my area but I never ever see any signs of life from them.

Next time youre out and about, grab a few local leaflets. Pop a few through his door?

Or move. Or accept he is who he is and Isn't hurting you.

I'm feeling pretty great about my neighbours as the annoying family across the road from me have been deported in a human trafficking bust and the noisy couple next door have moved out to be replaced by a nice, quiet couple.

Just thought I should let you know OP.

If that was the only issues I had with my neighbours before I moved to get away from them, I'd be over the moon...

Count yourself lucky!

My advice is to sweep up the glass and leave it at that.

He lives alone and afaik isn't disabled, but for whatever reason his house is in dire need of repair. The other half of his semi is up for sale and goodness knows how they will sell it with that mess joined onto it. Another neighbour has lived there since the houses were built in 1993 and said several years ago a woman lived with him, but it must have been at least10 years of no maintenance to get into the state it is in.

All I've done is clean the glass up (put into bin, not thrown back onto his driveway).

The purpose of this thread is trying to understand what would make someone do such a daft thing.

The 'move house' comments are amusing :p.

Regarding the glass thing, you could quite reasonably report this to the police?
Don't forget to report any kids playing football on the grass too,
you let them get away with crushing the lawn and next thing is they are crushing crystal meth into their crack pipes!*
