from my gaming last night this seems to be spot on,
Running bf4 on one screen and msia on the other and watched the card hovering @ 94-95c
being the div that i am once i had finished i powered up the fans to cool the card and then dropped it back to 20% (which i shouldnt have done) and then the machine promptly rebooted but all in all it seems quite stable now.
@ si mats, the new psu was the best solution for me and worked a treat, i had an 880 watt psu and that didnt cut the mustard, i would certainly look at going for a new psu as you are only just about meeting the requirements of the card, as these guys have said its a sound investment and can never do any harm.
i will now look @ ronsons idea of setting my own fan curve to keep the card cooler., Thanks ronson, i learn a bit more each day
Many Thanks to all of you as you have been a great help as always.
im sure i will be bobbing around with more questions as this is the time of year the fishing rods stay in the cupboard and i do some hardcore pc upgrades and gaming.
Happy New Year to you all
