hi,thought id try posting all this here, had posted gen hardware a similar thread, but still feeling uneasy,so..

Basically got a PC with Vista, needed to upgrade so just bought win8.1 64bit and thought id go SSD as well.partly because u cant upgrade vista to win8,so thought easier to get new SSD for new boot drive, also coz i wanted a SSD anyway.

So i was going to unplug my HDD(2x150GB raptors in Raid0)

plug in SSD Samsung 840 evo

go into bios select boot from cd

load up and install win8 onto the SSD

go BIOS again select SSD as boot drive

Does that sound about right,i know i can use data migration but thought might be safer to just reinstall the few games i play.no files to worry about losing...

So what have i missed ? loads probably. any advice please?

Can you or have you backed up the raid data?

If so just leave them as they are, plug in the ssd makesure your still in raid mode, enter raid console and setup the array for the hdd's and not the ssd

Then install windows 8 to the ssd

If you want raid again you need to set ports to raid not ahci

It's ctrl and i at startup to enter the raid console
