***The Official LG Optimus G2 Thread***

I'm with you on that. The G2 is a great phone but having the N5 as well a choice had to be made between the two and unfortunately the G2 lost out.
Can you tell us why?

I'm looking to get a G2 but obviously as the N5 is very close to it it's a contender.

The benefits of the G2
Bigger Screen
Better Battery?
Better camera
Reviews seemed to suggest better speakers.

N5
Stock android
Edit: Forgot wireless charging, which interests me.

And just to confirm this now has kitkat?

Prior to the 4.4.2 update the G2 easily beat the N5 however since the update it's far closer.

Yes the G2 has a bigger screen and the battery is a beast, easily beats the N5.

However where the G2 falls down is the micro stutters that plague the device, also I noticed that the more apps you install on the phone, the slower it gets. Even using a basic thing like a calculator the G2 used to lag ever so slightly.

The N5 is easily faster and for day to day operations it's a joy to use and doesn't even stutter.

The camera on the N5 is slightly better as well - in low light situations...

I'd disagree with people saying that the speaker is as worse than the N5 I'd say it's slightly better having played the same track side by side.

It's slightly louder and more clearer and less tinny.

Anyway my opinion is subjective, some people prefer the G2 over the N5 and vice versa and there's a nice long thread over at XDA detailing just that, I prefer Nexus devices over other OEMs.

Finally the European G2 doesn't have KitKat yet as it's only just started seeding on the Korean model.

KitKat is due to arrive on the G2 around March according to LG.

Thanks for all the info stoosh, housemate has ordered an n5 so if I like it I'll probably go with it...

Every review of the g2 seems to hate the software so I gather that goes hand in hand with the stuttering.

The battery is one of the main things I was looking forward to on the G2, my HTC one is not bad but it's always nice to have more.

I've not noticed any stuttering in general use on mine and I think the camera chucks out some good low light shots all in all. Maybe I'm lucky, not sure :D

The only "stuttering" I do occasionally suffer with though is on youtube on higher quality vids, little stutters now and then. Is this common with this phone?

No problem Dude. Definitely check out your house mate's N5 when it gets delivered the device is very smooth and impressive.

Truth be told I didn't mind the software on the G2 as there were some useful features backed into the ROM but it is kind of heavy on the bloatside and probably what causes the micro stutters. Same could be said with the S4 and Touchwiz.

The battery is superb and I think LG have used some nifty programming along with a 3000mah capacity that just keeps on going. If you can live with the micro stutters and the ever so slight lag switching between apps then I highly recommend the G2.

Loving the latest G2 Xposed update... Kitkat icons & Notification bleed

Also got around to replacing the stock launcher with Apex. Finally getting my G2 into a state I'm happy with. Just need system level DPI @ 380 now...

Anyone had problems getting 4G with O2 on the D802?

I just get 'H' in the notification area. O2 said everything is okay their end so not sure if i am missing something obvious.

Yeah, overall I've been impressed with the picture quality. I've taken hundreds of indoor pictures this winter (baby was born), almost all without flash and on the whole they come out great. Obviously there are sacrifices with shutter speed and denoise processing bus it's better than any other smartphone I've used.

There is a mod (I forget the guy's name) on xda that I'm using that much improves the viewfinder

I have an LG G2 running stock, software version D80210f-EUR-XX. I'm in Ireland and Three here have just released 4G/LTE but I cannot get access to it? There is no option for it in network mode. From reading around XDA it seems the version of the software I have might have 4G/LTE disabled so I need to root and stick on a different ROM to get it running? Is that correct? Seems odd that it would be disabled by default?

First the 4.4 update and now it's been updated to 4.4.2 for the Korean versions.

It seems that LG are on a roll in Korea at least....shame everyone else is still stuck on 4.2.2

Yea, seen a few days ago that it was rolling out in Korea, shouldn't think we will have to wait too long though.

True...at least LG are updating their devices. They were really rubbish before. Reports say that the update will be made available in March.

So im considering getting a g2 but I had a couple questions if I may

I'm considering rooting the device if need be.

Any slow motion video options?

Is there a physical camera button? I assume not given the button placement.

Does rooting affect the battery life?

Battery life is the big reason I'm looking at this phone. I currently have a note 1 so keeping the same screen size is a bonus. An upgraded camera would be second on the list which this seems to have although low light shots aren't great?

I've also been considering a lumia 1020, nexus 5 and even an iPhone 5s but in fairly certain I couldn't handle that small a screen which is also a problem for the lumia.
