These days it's all too often to hear people playing the anti-black race card. Sometimes it's true, sometimes not. But how many of you think you have had an experience where a black/Indian/Asian/whatever has been racist towards you as a white person, or when you were certain that this was the case?
I mention this because I had an odd situation at work. A black girl was trying to get some information off me about something, and right off the bat she was exceptionally rude and wouldn't even look me in the eye. I was calm the whole time and did what she wanted, all the time thinking her behaviour was remarkable. She then went to talk to a black colleague but before she did I said to her, "I warn you, this girl is exceptionally rude". When she came back my colleague said, "I don't know what you're talking about, she was one of the nicest people I've ever spoken to". I was stunned and told her how she had been towards me, to which she said, "well, maybe it's because I'm from Jamaica".
Now, of course I don't know she was being racist and maybe there was another reason for her attitude. But I did think it was strange that after she initially went to talk to me she went over to her friend [also black] and was laughing and joking, then she would come back to me and her mood would change instantly. Which kind of put the flag up.
This is a bit of a tricky topic for obvious reasons. But has anywhere here experienced what they think could be racism from a minority?
