AMD True Audio

So many technologies out at the moment that we can't hear or see :(

Mantle
G Sync
Free Sync
Occulus Rift
Tru Audio

Arghhh just have to take everyone's word for it. I have tried the Rift twice, at eurogamer and at play expo, it was the lower res version and did look amazing, but got bad motion sickness. 2014 is gonna be an expensive year for PC gamers!

We can hear TrueAudio, here a Demo, they just not got it playing for People at CES unless you put the headphones on.

Mantle has been shown couple times now, Gsync/FreeSync not something that interest me.
Occulus Rift I not sure about.

Dolby digital true audio>Dolby digital
DTS master HD>DTS

They are higher bandwidth audio tracks which can be found on most blue ray disc's. To get the real benefit good quality speakers need to be used and preferably the audio bitstream passed through to an AV receiver.

This have nothing to do with TrueAudio>?

Ok, thanks guys. Seems a little strange the 260x can, yet more powerful cards like the 280x / 7900s can't. Oh well...I'll see what its like and make a decision nearer the time.

@ Shankly1985, no idea about 20nm I'm afraid.

Got to say, from what I've seen Thief 4 looks like it really could be a great game.

Isn't it because the 280x is just re-brand of the 7900 series. But the 290 is new.

The 260X is built on the Bonaire processor, as well as the 290/X but the rest (that I am aware) are all Pitcairn processors. I am looking forward to Thief also :)

Yeah, I guess you're right; the 280x is after all a higher clocked 7970 iirc. I suppose they've 'attached' or allocated the hardware / software to the 260x & 290s, so they cover both mid range and high end markets. Pretty smart move to be fair.

The importance of TrueAudio is going to become clear soon, here's why.

All this is good but the audio processing required can cause CPU overheads for the many and complex calculations required which also require a lot of RAM, explained Bucci. However, if you have an AMD GPU with TrueAudio it will be able to handle all these overheads he said, which should mean that the game can run smoother with your CPU and RAM devoted to the other non-audio, non-graphical gaming calculations without hindrance.
