Awesome games done quick Jan 5th - Jan 11th

Completing Oblivion within 30 minutes is always good fun. Good ol' paintbrushes!

Mirror's Edge speed runs are great and difficult (30 minutes from the world record haha), portal 1 as well, the amount of glitches you can actually use to fly through half the game which are quite obvious, especially very quick ways to solve the difficult test chambers you wouldn't normally think!

Peaches run one handed of Mario 64 was amazing. Check it out in the archives if you missed it. Cosmo is doing a wind waker run soon, definitely check it out.

T'was awesome. The amount they've raised in ridiculous! They'll end up with more than double what they made last year, it's crazy.

It makes me want to try speed running some games but then I try and realise why I don't :p.

$1,000,000 is an impressive feat, double what their goal was.

I'm glad I donated, this year was excellent, though Cosmo's Run of OOT 2 years ago was astonishing. Peaches 1 handed run of Mario 64 did come quite close.

Just watched that Zelda OOT one, pretty awesome.

But my god theres some characters in that room...

Was an good event, just a shame they didn't speedrun any difficult games, or particularly interesting ones for that matter. It's all retro/Nintendo mainly which is fine but the whole event near enough? :(

Still, it's for a good cause and I thoroughly enjoyed a fair bit of it, did find myself drifting to some DayZ streams inbetween though. :o

They should have speedran Dark Souls and Code Veronica X forsure, have always took my time and enjoyed them personally so it would have been cool to see.

Gnaww looks like I missed this... seems like it would have been fun to watch - Can you re-watch any of the live stuff now that it's over? There's a few listed I wouldn't mind checking out

I wanna be the guy isn't difficult ?

And they won't do Dark Souls as it essentially requires the Black Knight to drop the halberd which wouldn't be fun watching them reset 4-5 times at 5 mins a pop.

I quite enjoyed that - got quite hooked and ended up staying up stupidly late to see some of my old favourites (5am most nights... !).

Didn't donate, but I shall do next time now that I know it is decent.

Concerning the speed run times, were they attempting world records? It seemed many of them quoted a time then totally destroyed it with about 10-20mins spare.

I thought the Age of Empires one was a bit short - obviously the runner was skilled, but it was only a mission, not the entire game.

The Ocarina of Time (Zelda) was odd; took me ages to realise they were racing each other doing different strategies/exploits. Both used a Japanese version of the game though, which was interesting as it seemed to open up loads of glitches for them.

Such as what?

Lol?

Have never heard of that, must have come on when I wasn't watching. I just meant that there were way to many retro and Nintendo games, the only modern ones I saw relied on glitches to warp through the levels and no skill whatsoever. The retro ones were good for a bit but they are all essentially the same and get boring.

How do you view the stream BTW when it's over? I wouldn't mind seeing Skyrim actually. It says no glitches used in the schedule.

Some glitches are difficult to do and could make/break a speedrun.

Have you tried the Rocket Jump and Demo Jump maps for TF2 for instance?

I didn't mean LoL, all I'm sayin is, balls to the walls skill, finesse and precision is much more fun to watch than somebody standing on a box trying to jump over an invisible wall. The reason ME/Portal etc weren't interesting or hard is because they were just glitched. Don't want to derail or **** on the thread any further though, so does anyone have links to the speedruns so I can check out Skyrim? Thanks.
