Is 1050watt enough for 3x r9 290's and xeon 1660?

The 1200 AX is not junk at all, it's a brilliant PSU. It's also a couple of years old now though, and it's underated if you want to overclock three 290Xs with an undisclosed TPD of 300w out of the box lol.

Then you've got the 1200i Digital, which is not made by Seasonic, and is the worst high end PSU I have ever used lol.

Agree with this, biggest mistake I made was selling my AX1200 and getting the AX1200i :(

Yes the analogue unit is superior to the digital for sure, the digital also clicks. :(

But 8 Pack has tested them both and for his usage even the analogue 1200W struggled with 3x 290X LN2 cooled, whereas the Superflower 1200W managed 4x 290X LN2 cooled, that is a pretty incredible achievement to be honest.

Ok nothing went bang, gpu-z reports 205w draw per card. Got a socket watt meter coming to confirm. But I think this system is drawing around 850watt.

Question, and Gibbo will know the answer to this. Is that leadex 1200w unit good enough for 4x 290's, and even 4x 290's overclocked? With my xeon 1660. How much faith do you have in this flower power psu's? I did read 8packs review and look great!

So my second question is when are you expecting more stock?

Yes the 1200W can handle four cards, Superflower always under-rate their kit, they prefer to under promise and over deliver. When I eventually build my new rig next year I shall be using a Superflower Leadex Platinum unit for sure. :)

HI there

That Corsair unit could struggle. :(

The Superflower 1000W Platinum can do it with ease, even with CPU and cards overclocked, but it is Platinum rated.

You will simply have to try it and see, if you get stability issues, remove a card, if your then stable, swap cards, if still stable, then your PSU is struggling and time to upgrade it.

I will hold you to that, as I just ordered my 3rd 290 (non x) from you to be powered by the awesome SuperFlower Leadex Platinum 1000W :D

All PSU's aren't perfect. You might get a bad one here and there. It happens. I'm sure the faults % wise on these SuperFlowers are pretty low compared to some of the newer Corsair models.

true, but ocuk are marketing these as the elite of the PSU world and if Im going to stick 1600 quids worth of gfx cards running at 100% 24/7, then this doesn't fill me with confidence. I'm researching EVGA at the moment, more money but might be a better long term option

Here are some I've researched on johnnyguru:

EVGA G2 Supernovas: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=349
Coolermaster V-series 1000w: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=344
Fractal Design Newton R3: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=339
Be Quiet Dark Power: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=296
Antec HCP: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=287

These are all top rated options outside of the usual Corsair/Seasonic hegemony. The reason I don't include XFX is RMA service and SuperFlower haven't impressed me with this bad batch business.

Corsair AX was good. AXi is not so!! All digital controller PSU by Corsair are sadly the same with a strange ticking noise and poor performance.

When I tested Superflower 1200w I had 4 x 290 all clocked and a Haswell at 6.2 for benching and it was all rock stable.

The Superflower 1200 is my current choice in PSU.

Are you confident that the 1000w platinum Superflower can hold it's own with 3x R9 290's?

I've had the 1200 SF for just over a week now and it's a sublime PSU. Very quiet and had no problem running 3 of my 780Tis at 1.2v with CPU 4960X @ 1.4v
