Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes

Do they take the money straight away or when the game is shipped?
I'm not 100% sure. I've just ordered now on my credit card so I'll let you know if a charge appears in the next couple of days.

Edit: According to their website, they take payment straight away.

True, though I don't much see the point in getting the current-gen versions if there's a superior version available at the same time, I'll just end up feeling like I'm not getting the full experience. Guess it means I've got 3 months to catch up on all the PS3 games I've not yet played...could be challenging!

March 14th-March 21st is going to be so busy for me now. Dark Souls 2, Titanfall, Infamous and now MGS:GZ. I'll need an extra pair of hands I think!

I'm torn because there's still an awful lot of current-gen games I want/need to play. I've barely touched most of last year's PS+ offerings, haven't started Beyond: Two Souls despite getting it on release day, and there's still a few other games like the Ratchet & Clank HD remakes (and the new Nexus one) that I want to play. Thing is, I fear I'll be making it that much harder for myself to go back to those if I already have a PS4.

But on the other hand: MGS. :o

I know I'll end up being happy there are games on the PS360 I've not played yet, as I imagine there could end up being a lull in next gen games releases at some point, and I can use that time to pick up some older games dirt cheap and play through them then.

That is a good point. I go between PC and console gaming without ever feeling like I'm suffering a massive step down in visual quality or general technical amazingness, so I think I could swap between the two happily.

In any case, should get my discount card from work when I get back off holiday this weekend, which means £35 off the PS4 retail price. That reduces the damage a bit!

Anyway, back on-topic, is there any indication of when we'll see Phantom Pain? Presumably with them having split MGS5 in this way, they're expecting a reasonable gap between the two?

Im tempted to just get this just before Phantom Pain turns up - I just dont see the value of playing 'an episode' months before the actual meat. Only saying that as Im busy with so many other titles around that time that this is most likely the one Ill probably wont play til PP is over the horizon...

ps3ud0

I feel you pain lads, This is one of many games I looking forward to for the NextGen (and the list continues, Infamous, WatchDogs, The Witcher 3 etc etc)

But like you I still have my PS3 games to complete. I bouncing between both consoles at the minute, playing ACBF, BF4 on my PS4 and trying to finish off Far Cry 3, Borderlands 2 and DMC too, just dont have enough hours in the day lol

But its still a good gripe to have :)

If it wasn't for the fact I got it for £25 with the discount code, I likely would have done the same thing. With the other games released around the same time, it'll likely stay sealed on the shelf for a couple of months.

So GZ and PP are two separate full length games? How much longer will we have to wait for PP?

Yeah, Ground Zeroes is basically like an extended demo or taster of Phantom Pain to test the waters for the latter. IIRC Kojima said he'd gauge how ready PP is based off the performance of GZ, but it's going to be at least another couple of years away. GZ is going to have a lot less features and will be considerably smaller than PP, but I'm not complaining, it's another MGS game :D

Game Informer got their hands on a near-final build of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes for their March cover story, and they say they beat the game's main mission (not including side quests or special console-exclusive missions) in less than two hours. Less than two hours!

"Judged just by the core story mission, Ground Zeroes is short," Game Informer writes in the cover story (only available in the magazine, not online). "We completed it in just less than two hours."

2 hours? Surely charging anything over about £10 is taking the mick?

2 hours is a joke, I hope lots of people don't pay for this at full price, otherwise it's sending a message to developers that this is acceptable. As you say, 2 hours long is not worth more than £10 or maybe £15 at a push

We don't really have any idea how much content there will be in regards to exclusive missions or side quests. I could probably complete the main quest in something like Fallout 3 in about 2 hours, that doesn't mean there's no content.
