Sherlock - Series 2 - BBC

Just because John didn't read the information, doesn't mean that Sherlock didn't. Anyhow, I suspect more will emerge next series. I'm still not 100% the relationship will survive especially with a baby.

Wasn't too happy with 'shooting in the head' solution. A bit too simplistic and not quite in keeping.

However I reckon Sherlock needed to work himself up to it, hence insisting John go through with that repellent 'flicking' from Magnesson. Just to really emphasize to himself what sort of person Magnesson was.

Haha, brilliant bait and switch there. Everyone spends months wondering how Sherlock survived, then it turns out that Moriarty faked his own death as well.

The old long con :D

The episode was good I thought. Looking forward to the next season.

It was enjoyable to watch and an improvement on the first two episodes. I think the series has been weak and previous ones were better than this one. I get the feeling that they're running out of ideas for the script. My enthusiasm for the show has waned and I won’t be waiting with baited breath for the next series.

When they showed Moriarty in the cell I thought to myself "he was such a good villain". Proper excited that hes back. God I hope they don't make us wait an age for the next series!

He went away too easily so I always suspected he would come back.

The way Moriarty is played is so irritating. I find it really ruins every scene he is in. So at the end of last nights episode my enthusiasm for the next season was killed :(

i think this has been the best series - much better than 2 anyway.

not particularly excited to see Moriarty back - he was annoying and not even remotely convincing as a bad guy.

How long does it take to get shot? Wish they'd cut the crap. Does he really need multiple flashbacks to tell him to fall backwards and take a chill pill? If I knew how long and drawn out that scene was, I'd have made myself a cup of tea.

Liked the fact that the villain was just shot in the head at the end. Rather abrupt and a bit, eh?

Moriarty returning just smacks of desperation.

Was this series based on any books or did they create the story themselves? Acting was fantastic in this episode as it always is but the fancy camera work, progressive story line and reveal at the end was missing. Not sure if they're trying to move away from how the episodes were presented in the first two series or not but this series was really weak in comparison imo.
They are pretty much all based on the books in one way or another. The finale was based on "The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton" - if you watch the previous two episodes again, you'll see/hear little reveals for this episode (maybe:D).

From never having seen the show at the turn of the year, I've thoroughly enjoyed watching all 9 episodes since then :)

I guessed Moriarty faked his death a while ago and I thought they'd reveal it in the 2nd episode. No way he could have fooled Sherlock though, he was standing right next to him.

Don't think he did fake it. More likely he's probably set something in motion before his death to make it appear that he's still out there, and as an ultimate fail safe for Sherlock not going through with his suicide. Here's hoping they don't go with that boring explanation.

Watching episode one again, there is absolutely no way I buy Mary as some kind of foreign agent assassin bad-ass!....awfully acted. Watch the scene where Watson is shaving and see that character as an assassin!

Mary was an agent that then went freelance, with great deceptive skills and sharp shooting. So assuming the things she did under the guise of "for her country" were probably questionable on a moral scale, she was probably also a "specialist" for hire, and they are hardly out there to secretly prune peoples roses :p.

They fed enough information for you to formulate the story yourself, you don't need it spelt out for you.

And Magnusson kept up an image of having vaults where he stored his information. If you are going to convince people of that, you carry around faked paperwork to make them believe it. If you just told everyone it was in your head then you would get shot by the first person you tried to blackmail. It was obviously working, even Sherlock thought the vaults were real.

I would have liked some montages of her killing Cambodian children or something.

I originally thought they would change Moriarty to be an organization, so even if one of them died, another member would appear. I thought he was a very underwhelming villain, maybe because they didn't have time to flesh him out.

Careful, that's Martin freemen's actual wife(sort of) you are talking about :)

Way to inject some close intimacy by casting someone's actual wife to play their fictional wife :)

Hmm not a great series that one, found it either awfully predictable or viewer having to have faith in the Sherlock character to connect the dots without obvious information.

Glad to see Moriarty back, shame it seems it was Magnusson watching the bonfire in episode 1 and not the serial killer taxi driver from the first series.

This episode was good, just wish for more 'detecting'...

ps3ud0

I fear it may have jumped the shark. I'm not sure yet, but I think it might have happened. I'm not sure whether it was the death faking or the best man at the wedding, but I think it might be done.

Was going to say something similar. It is still top Tv, even when it is below par, they are trying a few too many tricks, and it is becoming a bit too predictable. The future is a little uncertain in my mind....tbh, if you made a parody of this show, you would probably find it hard to distinguish from the original!

It really does need a longer season imo tbh. A scene that I would use to illustrate this would be the wedding episode, where Sherlock, at the end is saying something like 'you'll be great parents, look at the practice you've had with me'...a line that doesn't work at all, seeing as Mary had only been in the show for a little over an episode, Sherlock and Watson ahd only really made up at the end of the first episode, and it had hardly shown anything to show that at all, bar one scene at Baker Street.

Yeah but it had been six months or something in the show, perfectly valid.

Much like Jonathan Creek it's better in short doses. They're never going to come up with 20 episode seasons like US shows
