XBone v PS4 sales

Stock for the Xbox one and PS4 has been awful up in my area...
I managed to get one from my local Argos after reserving it online (well, my wife reserved it for me)
Turns out they got 2 in stock on the same day, and both sold within hours.

I seem to be in Xbox one territory. I don't know anyone who owns a PS4, but there is zero stock anywhere

I can only speak for Asda (no doubt other retailers are similar), but stock was largely being prioritised to down South and the larger Scottish stores before filtering through to the smaller ones. Think it took a week or two for my store to get a few PS4s, and then another week or two for Xbox Ones to arrive. Not sure what availability has been like since, I'll find out when I'l back at work this weekend.

Ultimately it's the retailer that decides where the stock goes though.

Having read through the posts, it looks like availability is different per area, where I live in county down, a week after xmas, I visited my local game store three times in a week, each time no XBox One stock, but every time is was there, there was somebody buying a PS4, I eventually got my XBox One from Tesco.

Most of the Argos stores near me had stock of both last week when I checked. Anyway yeah there's bound to be different availability in different areas depending on where the retailer sees the demand.

I'd love to see Northern Irish sales figures as it certainly seems from anecdotal evidence that XB1 is more popular here, in contrast to the UK as a whole.

In the USA, since before Christmas, every place I've been too, has XBones stacked to the brim in their respective places, and absolutely zero PS4's.

Xbones are not flying off the shelves in any hurry. Buy to sell hoping to make a profit, did initially buy them up, but they've all since returned them to get their money back..

one thing I would like to add to this, in my local CEx there are at least 4 PS4's on display that have been traded in maybe 5 but only 1 XBOX1,
wonder how many of these new consoles have already been traded in by the idiots who have to get then just to say they had them first then trade in to get cash back

I'm one of those idiots. :D I had 4 xbox ones, that I ended up listing for just $20 above RRP, and not one call... So I took them back and got my 2grand back...

It's called buying and selling for a profit with absolutely NO RISK... Actually you're a bit of an idiot if you don't go for it..

I sold a PS3 for $3400 back in 2006.. That's my gaming consoles paid for, for the rest of my life, cos i made the effort to line up when they started taking pre-orders.

Anyway going back to topic.. I personally feel the PS4 is going to trounce the XboxOne this gen.. Felt it right away. Which is why I swapped my xbox one pre-order, that i had every intention of keeping, but felt i was better off with a 2nd Ps4.

Microsoft have made so many errors recently. Not only in their core business, but now in their gaming division, evidently. I have no faith in them bringing this back..

How are you going to buy exclusive developers if the PS4 is outselling the XboxOne 10-1? Hey make a game solely for us... You'll only get paid 10% of what you'll get if you release on the PS4... Sony are wrapping this up this gen.

I wouldn't pay that myself but sure if people are wanting them badly they would shift. I don't own next gen yet myself as theres no WOW games for me yet
Oh no doubt, seems CEX has loads of both consoles and probably paid over RRP on average for them...

Will be funny to see how they shift them

ps3ud0

personally think its way to early to call it, from the sales numbers so far the ps4 ahead by a fair bit but when you look at games on each console at the mo its a bit meh.
I think when all the big games start coming out at the year end when casual gamers get involved with the consoles we'll see a better view of whats gonna happen.
I imagine most of whats been sold so far for next gen will be most of the hard core gamers wanting the next gen straight away.
I think its going to be very interesting few years

Once casual gamers get involved I think gap will only get bigger as most of them will go for cheaper console IMO.

Argos is the only place with stock at £349.99, plenty of other places are selling £500 bundles though

This is a map showing all Argos PS4 stock across the UK, http://www.myps4deals.co.uk/argos-stock-locator/default.asp?view=byprice . The Argos stock checker only shows stock within a few miles of your store. With this map, if you're really desperate at least you have the option of driving somewhere to get one. God knows why Argos don't let you see view stock like this on their site.
