Google-Motorola "X Phone" in the 2013 pipeline?

ATT or Tmobile are GSM phones so they'll work although I don't think Tmobile directly stock it.

Rogers or I think any of the Latin America people are also fine but Verizon is no use to you.

That said its out here in 2 weeks, I doubt the £380 sim free cost will last and I think its free on £25 2 year tariffs.

Am so tempted to get one of these.
Anyone know what US carriers are compatible with 3UK?

As has been said below it might be worth waiting to the end of the month and seeing what the actual retail price is.

My HTC One starting freezing again then doing a reboot. It seemed to be taking around 3 goes at booting before it would manage to boot proper. Did the same tonight and now is stone dead  Been the best HTC phone I've had but generally never had any luck reliability wise with HTC's, unlike Motorola phones. It did the same at Christmas but mysteriously starting working again after a few days. Bought it second hand so be interesting to see if I can get HTC to stand up to the warranty. If repairs turn out to be very expensive (for me) then a Moto X may be tempting. If the Moto X had been released here back in September I'd have probably bought one rather than the HTC.

I have a Moto X (was living in the US the past few months). It is my favourite phone ever (I also own an HTC One). The screen colour is fantastic, its fast, and the way it holds in the hand is perfect, it also feels the 'right' size, the HTC One is too big for my liking. I dont care that the specs dont match the top phones. My only bone of contention is that the 4G doesnt work in the UK with it so am looking to sell it.:/

Should work with 4G in UK unless it's a Verizon Moto X maybe? I think they use some other standard to what we use here (or one of them does) .... I think

HTC One is as bigger phone as I would want. To me it's just about OK without being clumsy in one hand. Biggest annoyance is the HTC One power switch on top of the phone which never seems to come naturally to hand.

I'm hopeful my 'One' will be repaired without major expense. Cracked the screen on my previous Razr HD and replacement was hideously expensive. If the X is similar to the G then it'll be a nice handling phone (not seen an X in the flesh). £380 for the Moto X is too expensive IMO.

There is a massive disconnect between people who have owned the phone, and reviewers, who almost unanimously say it is one of, if not the, best Android phone of 2013, and people who just see 'mid range' specs with no real perception of why they want those specs.

I can't wait to see the follow up to the Moto X. Despite being unnecessary, I think Motorola will have to use top spec internals just to shut people up. Hopefully they keep the screen the same size though and I would like to see a bump up in storage. It's embarrassing that Apple is the only manufacturer to offer decent (though overpriced) storage options. And of course, release it properly!

I was hoping Motorola released the X far earlier in the UK. I was holding out for it but caved and got a HTC One instead. Its a lovely device but I agree that its a tad too big. The X would be perfect for me.

Cheers Dude, I know! But I really want a Moto maker X! Just don't like the plain old black and white versions, they just don't do it for me, I always buy my phones sim free and don't really mind how much it costs.

Lots of speculation stating that the 32Gb version might not even make it over to the UK and that's the one I want.

Am kind of annoyed that the battery life on the N5 isn't that great, I guess I was spoilt by the G2 and it's epic battery life.

The Moto X seems like the ideal phone for me, running almost vanilla Android 4.4.2 and has the AMOLED screen that I'm actually missing (I never thought I'd say that)

Right well don't buy the AT&T version! They just don't allow bootloader unlocking.. period.

And rooting 4.4 on the X is a nightmare right now involving downgrading etc so right now I'm living with this gimpy 4G logo in the status bar and a few other little things (no battery percentage winds me up so I want mavity box) until there's a better root method.

To be honest I'd come to terms with unlocking, flashing a new recovery etc as there's no international warranty anyway.

However, if you want moto maker.. just wait ;)

Hold on.. your 4G is working in the UK?? Didnt think that was possible?

stoosh - wait with me and we'll buy the updated X later this year :D

I'm getting tired of Samsung.

I would wait...but we're only just getting the original Moto X now and I've got that feeling of buying a new phone that you know really well I can't shake off! :D

Is there a successor coming out in the near future?

I'm not surprised you're getting tired of Samsung, you've been a loyal customer of theirs for a fair while now ;)

It's a shame as that's one of the disadvantages of buying a non UK phone but you've got a unique handset which you know no one will have and that makes it unique :)

Think I might just settle for a normal Moto X (stipulation is that is has to be 32Gb and I can fit a Dbrand skin on the back instead. Not quite moto maker but it'll do since Moto's CEO said they were still thinking of a way to implement Moto maker here in the UK but couldn't elaborate on a time frame.

Looking at the Motorola UK website it seems as if the 32Gb will be available but only online.

^^ I know Dude...doesn't it look so cool?

I'm lusting after that wooden back...lucky Americans...

Still there's always the Dbrand skins to save the day but it's not quite the same.

Gonna be sorely tempted if they do another $349.99 off-contract offer (or less please :D), I got an X for my wife through the Black Friday sale and she loves it, it's a cracking phone and the active display, assist and voice control are great features.

Moto should take a leaf out of Apple's book and just release a spec-increased Moto XS this year, they nailed the ergonomics and if they can keep the same shell then it'll keep the Motomaker goodness going.

Specs for specs sake don't matter to me

Battery.. Moving to a 3300 from 2000mAh battery has made so much difference
Signal
Quality screen
Feel
Nled

I really don't care about cpu or gpu.. Ram is useful tho

Still got my razr maxx hd and and still don't see a phone that looks better

I too feel your pain :D

Is there a successor coming out in the near future?

There probably will be but depends on how long 'near' can be in the scheme of things. T'other thing is would it be a US release followed by the rest of us waiting another 6 months before deciding to ship it here

When I saw the post earlier about being 16gigs only it was as that point I thought that's it, any interest I had in the Moto X completely evaporated but then I too saw on the Motorola website that 32gigs would be available 'online' Not so much bothered about Moto maker as my choice is any colour so long as it's black :D

My saga with the HTC One goes on. Managed to charge it as per normal and once done did boot ok though after 60 seconds went into boot loop. I've contacted HTC regards repair and waiting to hear back. Thought I'd see it it could boot into 'Boot menu' but was unable to do a factory reset which I'd hope would wipe it before sending to HTC. It was at this point I noticed the dreaded 'Tampered' at the top of the screen. I've personally left it stock and sort of got the impression the guy I bought it off on ebay had done the same. I'll guess now that I don't have a receipt and the tampered message I may well be up that dirty creek without a paddle

Kind of got me thinking that of the phones I've had which have mainly been HTC or Motorola it has always been the HTC's that have failed and been sent back for repair. Always under warranty but kind of not the point. All the Moto's have never failed apart from the broken screen on the Razr HD which would have to be down to me.

Goggling the HTC One symptoms and came across a couple of posts with same symptoms and cure was to replace the battery. May not be a too costly fix should I have to pay.
