Royal Maiil - more laughable than ever

I bought an expensive item direct from Google and they chose to use "Parcelforce Secure delivery"
Tracking when ok including telling when it was taken in/out of secure storage on it's route.

My issue came when the item arrived. I expected a vehicle with either Royal Mail or Parcelforce emblazoned on it. It turned up in a scrotty white transit van, with more rust than paintwork to the point even a ***** would have ditched it. I thought it was a ***** trying to case my house at first.

Got a "something for you" card dropped from them this morning. Says opening hours and local depot.

Drove there only to find the retarded postman hadnt written wait 48 hours/ until monday 10am?! Wasted journey for me and now having to wait all weekend to receive this important paperwork.

Ive stopped using them for any parcels. Parcel2go and UPS Access point is cheaper and more convenient.

If you actually spent a fraction of time using your brain, it would have been obvious that the parcel wouldn't have been at the depot. Do you expect posties to take every non delivered parcel to the depot straight away? Do they also need to write 48hrs when it already states that they don't open on Sundays?

So what was your issue? That your parcel was delivered to you in one piece and on time but you got all your panties in a twist because of the van they used?

I expect some professional pride in company vehicles.

You wouldn't expect a funeral director to turn up with the coffin of your loved one in the back of an escort van would you?

To be honest around here RM seems to be anything but what has been said in this thread, the posties are friendly and helpful, as are the people at the counters and depos.

A funeral director is in no way equivalent. A delivery vehicle doesn't make any difference to the delivery itself outside of reliability. Do you complain if your postman delivers your letters with scruffy shoes as well?

They obviously use RM vans normally so there must have been some reason for using an old beat up van.

I purchased something from Ebay which was not as described so returned it by recorded delivery (item was about £45)

It did not arrive, there is no tracking info and the seller says it did not arrive

I filed a lost item report and finally after over 2 months I get a letter

"we wrote to Mrs xxxxx requesting confirmation of whether or not the item arrived but have not had a reply, I am therefor ASSUMING that we have delivered the item"

So on no evidence whatsoever they ASSUME it was delivered, clowns

They have included a pack of 6 stamps a reimbursement :p

stamps and snotty letter on their way back to them

Recorded delivery is a complete waste of time and money, the compensation is no more than for a standard letter/parcel and it often never tracks, and the postie usually signs for it anyway. If it absolutely has to get there and has to have a record then use Special Delivery instead.

Getting stamps in lieu is the standard method of compensation, rather than money.

Like most couriers Parcelforce use self employed owner drivers. There are minimum standards for the vans they are supposed to have but obviously these standards are not being enforced. RM do not do this.

compensation for signed for is £50, compensation for normal first or second class parcel (not signed for) is £20. It is not a complete waste of time and can be useful as it is not really worth paying for special delivery on something worth about £50.

Whoever told you Recorded doesn't exist anymore is telling porkies.

Recorded = Signed For
Tracked (Signature)
Special Delivery

Those all need signing for and still exist.... well they did yesterday when I delivered them :D

Thanks. I was 100% told it and even checked it again with them as I was surprised. I'll certainly be complaining.

If you spent a fraction of time using yours you'd work out that the post office WAS open (Saturday 7am-2pm) for them to tell me wait 48hours.

And does it take 48 hours for them to take a letter back to the depot?! I went atleast 2 hours after he'd attempted delivery near closing time.

Smartass :o

The postie should have written Monday or 48 hours on the card, but even 2 hours after you got the card is pushing it for a letter/packet/parcel to be back at the delivery office. He may have had another 4 hours delivery after he attempted to deliver your mail.

Even on a Saturday, which is usually one of the quietest days of the week he would struggle to be back before 2pm before the collection office closed.
