fps make me feel sick.

Play better games. :).. Or go back to Doom. :)

someone had to say it..

I feel the same though, i just don't like the way FPS games have gone. Yes they look great but i can't play one for longer than a hour at a time.

I have never been able to play fps because of motinon sickness since wolfenstein was out 20 odd years ago. after Mr cookie suggested these in November i have been able to complete cod ghosts, bf3 and bf4 and killzone single player campaigns and am even starting to play bf4 multiplayer.

i got my bands from boots i think they were about £8

I am a old quake/quake3 player but am finding modern fps make me feel sick why?

You are used to fast paced games from a generation that could actually play fps.

You are not meant to move on modern fps games as they are catering to a new generation of gamers. Try finding a corner to sit in and aim at a doorway so that you can just click as people enter it. Then when you have a few kills in a row press another key to launch a helicopter/plane that will go around outside killing a few more for you without you having to move.

Try that and see if you still feel sick.

TLDR: Dont move, modern fps dont require it.

As mentioned most likely ridiculous low FOV due to console ports (where the viewing distance is typically much greater.

Quake (and probably Quake 3) have a default of 90 with the ability to increase it, whereas most modern games use 75 or less and some don't let you change it (Dead Space, while not a FPS, is basically unplayable - I gave up on the first level).

What FOV did you use in q3? I used 110 i think and admit modern games seem very narrow to me, but they don't make me nauseous.

Half Life 2 is so far the only game that has given me motion sickness in game, usually if I've been playing over 1 hour +.

I've felt ill playing Half Life 2 as well. Bought it in 2004 and never played it all the way through.

I keep meaning to play thought in short burst and get it done eventually.

Deus Ex: Invisible War (also 2004 I think) also made me feel horrible. That was definitely parly FoV but I found getting a better monitor helped. No desire to go and finish that one though.

I have the same problem. I haven't been able to enjoy or complete a FPS since Unreal 2004.

I used to play the heck out of UT and Quake back in the day though. Half-Life 2 and Portal nearly killed me. 20 mins play time made me have to sleep the for rest of the afternoon to feel better.

Can't say the motion bands did anything for me. Tablets work but make me drowsy.
I tend to avoid and play MMO's instead.

I've just ordered some cheap motion sickness bands to see if they will make any difference. To be honest I've been sceptical of them before but I guess it's worth a try.

I rarely get it but games that do have it are very annoying. I think it's the head-bob that gets me, wish they'd leave it out as when you really are running or walking you don#t actually perceive head-bob.

peripheral vision is almost 170 I think but its not uniform.

Turn off head bob, people used to get this on doom years ago. I think they changed floor textures to help but lighting might do it now
