*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

But when I consider I sold my S2 towards the end of 2011 on ebay & since then I could have gone onto a sim only contract - £12 a month? Whereas I am actually paying nearer £30. Working that out 24 * £18 is a saving of £432 quid for something that just works, plus the grief I've had with the S4 has quite frankly just put me off using it.

I pay less for my s4 than i did my s2 - such is life. I have had no problems with it either, other than the fake metal coating falling off the back cover and band round the side.

yep!

hold up, have you seen how involved doing it yourself is? Watch a youtube video, its seriously hardcore iirc.. the screen and lcd are laminated together so you need to replace the whole thing which involves completely taking the thing apart and I think going through some anti tamper stickers.

Either way, I had a look out of interest and whilst I'm fairly handy with a screwdriver and have done this sort of thing a few times it just looked doomed to failure to me, let a pro do it.

if your doing the cheap method of seperating the glass from the digitiser it involves no screwing or stickers or removing at all ! if you want to replace the lot as one you do but the part is about £150 quid

anyway... i did mine using a hairdryer guitar plecks and various swearwords . it was not nice. you WILL scratch the silver bezel (mine was chipped anyway from the drop that shattered the glass) you WILL get some sort of mark between the glass and the screen.

for the price of £9 for the glass/glue and tools from ebay and half an hour it was worth a try before claiming on insurance . i reckon i could get it very near to perfect on a second attempt

definetly not as easy as the youtube vids make it look (many say they are removing self glued screens that have already been removed before on the vids rather than removing the stock glue)

Using Omega Rom v19 and have no issues at all. Runs very smooth with good battery. I'd like to try 4.4 but Ill wait for the official version.

yes im aware of that on these newer phones but previous s4 was a old bootloader and i didnt change it. My new ones just arrived so i will post back the bootloader.

not worried about warranty to be honest as i have private insurance

ive got I9505XXUAMDM

Build JDQ39.I9505XXUAMDM

Sweet just tried another sim and its factory unlocked:D

Sorry to ask again but do i have any form of Knox on mine? Have i been lucky?

Ive already rooted it fine:) Not dont a customer recovery or anything yet. Ive been running it all stock. But i miss the extra speed, and battery life...........especially miss the extra volume features......

If I remember correctly from when I had my S4, the D in the code you posted means you do have KNOX.

I think you can also check by going into download mode and seeing if there's any mention of KNOX flags there.

I am using Jamals GE KK ROM. I am having an issue with Shazam where it is saying that the microphone is being used. I have uninstalled or freezed apps that could cause this and it still hasn't sorted it. Also I have cleared data and reinstalled the app and it still throws the error up.

I remember losing sound when I flashed the wrong modem; because I was on the old bootloader I needed to keep my LTE modem on an older version (MJ5 I think) and flash what ever I wanted for the GSM modem (currently ML6). Not sure if that is any help.

Try Google Ears if you can get hold of it.

I dont have any thing about knox in the download mode.............

Right, I have finally got my phone in working order again!

Tried various ROMs and Modems etc, none were any good.

Only option was to flash the stock ROM. Only download I could find were with file hosts limited to 50kb/s! So I paid my 4.99 euros, downloaded, flashed. All working again now!

What an utter headache.

I do now have KNOX on my download screen also, currently says 0x0.

Just had a 16.28mb stability update from Samsung. It appears to be a KNOX update:
