S.T.A.L.K.E.R - Lost Alpha

I found some info sounds promising

We were amazed by GSC's work when they released the first S.T.A.L.K.E.R. screenshots in 2002. The old design, and atmosphere was stunning and we couldn't believe our eyes. Later in 2005 things has changed. They redesigned almost all old levels. Some of them became smaller, simpler (still nice, but different), and some levels were removed. After the release in 2007 we played the game a lot, and quickly noticed that some areas are missing. We opened forums, and talked countless nights about those for almost a year. Nowdays we could say, we have a full vision about GSC's old levels, due to the collected materials, videos and forgotten screenshots. We decided to remake those stunning areas, maybe they won't be the same, but we will try everything to make them look really nice, as we always wanted to see them. In early 2009, GSC released a build from 2004, which contained many old materials. We used some of the sdk objects for the level remakes, but adjusted (and bugfixed) them for our liking, also we didn't throw out our own levels. So expect to see our own Darkscape, Dead City, Rostok Factory and some more in Lost Alpha :)

Also need to say, Lost Alpha addon is not just about levels and levels. We will try to make a somewhat, but not fully restricted alife, and deliver a lot of new, never seen features, among with some old ones, which many people wanted to see for long. If you are interested in, check the Features menu for FAQ, Interview, Features List, and many more. Also do not forget to check the gallery, and the movies. All comments are welcome, also we are glad to see suggestions too, however at this stage those won't be considered.
Thanks for your understanding

I'm currently working my way through Stalker:SOC using the AA2 mod - absolutely loving it, having never played any of the Stalker games before. Will definitely be keeping my eye on this.

There are many more treats in store for you then. ;) :)

Glad you're enjoying the mod. It's one of the very best for SOC, possibly my favourite so far for that game, all considered.

I really wish Stalker 2 would be made. I just can't decide on a studio (if I had a say in this) I would prefer to make it.

Crytek maybe

Or Valve

That's just the perfect excuse to get SoC back on my pc was contemplating putting it on since there is a bit of a drought of games atm :)

Hopefully lost alpha comes to fruition anytime soon

Unless I'm just used to Western-made shooters, I'm finding the difficulty on the AA2 mod CRAZY hard. I'm shot dead on the first mission, on Novice level within 1-2 bullets.

Or am I just terrible at FPS games?

One more question, would AA2 be classed as a better mod than the 'Stalker Complete' mod?

Although it's down to personal preference, I think most people would choose AA2 over the complete mod a majority of the time. I think it's much better.

If you're having trouble at the novice difficulty, then I would suggest watching some play through videos to see if you can pick up any tips; you may find that once you get past the the point you're stuck on, that things will improve for you. Practice will make you a better player. :)

My one pro tip - hide behind stuff and use lean, a lot!

Don't try to play it like other fps' Stalker:SOC with the AA2 mod is more a run away/hide/scavenge game. Always try to sneak up & open fire first, odds on if you are out in the open and something finds you, it won't end pretty.

I'm up to around 40 hours played now and just finished retrieving some docs from a spooky, underground lab - that was not fun! This is my first play through and as I understand it I am still nowhere near the end lol.

I ****ing love Stalker:SOC!! Going to have to go for a 4th play through now I think and try this AA2 mod to add to my vanilla, OL and Complete list.

X16? Bloodsuckers? That scared the **** out of me the first time I played it haha

Is this out yet? the stand alone one as I can't find any links :(

No idea I'm afraid. One of the guys I subscribe to played a bit of the mod (long time ago now), though unfortunately the link in the video description can't be found. Anyway, here is it :

Ah cheers, I'll try the lean method then. I just found it weird as I always play all my FPS games on the hardest or second hardest setting and still have good survivability while I just get absolutely owned in Stalker. I'll try the gun and run method too. Strange though, I'm not used to play FPS' that way :p
