Has anybody else noticed lately the BBC is awash with Dave the Saviour stories at the moment, telling us crime is down, wages are up, the nhs is spiffing and Dave is God. Oh also the lib dems are in the midst of a sex scandal and labour are.... invisible. Is there an election coming up or something?
^ I only consume my news media online. I can skim the drivel while the important stuff filters through. I can't stand tv broadcast news because its so slow and false. Just an irritating amount of irritating government propaganda is slipping through my otherwise impermeable net.

Well I am glad we have informed people like yourself to tell us what the real stats are. I look forward to reading your report and reviewing the da-... Oh wait, that's not going to happen, is it?
I'm not sure that you have read the article, as it does not state that real wages are up but that the collation has said this. The headline is "UK pay rising in real terms, says coalition" they also have a part by their personal finance reporter who disagrees with the coalition figures.

This statistic manipulating government expect us, the lower-middle income families to accept this clap-trap? The price of everything has risen in the last 5 years and just because they reduce a little tax and NI they think were all square, get real and live in the real world.

Personally I don't believe statistics issued by any party. My own experience and that of family, friends, neighbours is that most people in our area are struggling with rising food prices, energy bills and no wage increases. That's the only 'statistic' that matters.

Rubbish!
Absolute North Korean-style drivel from this disturbing government.
The rich in this country are getting richer and richer ... while the poor working family get poorer.
Frankly this is an insulting manipulation of statistics to try to kid people that it is anything different.
Rather allot of people are spotting the inconsistencies with real life. What makes you so special aye? Is it your gullibility or tory party donation

Manipulation of statistics for political gain should be a crime.
As should the media reporting it as factual.

From the Sky News Website....
''Last week the UK Statistics Authority, the statistics watchdog, withdrew "gold-standard" status from the police-recorded crime figures, which began in the 19th century, because of the "accumulating evidence" that they were unreliable''.
Why wasn't this reported in this article?

According to the Police there was no crime in Tottenham for the first 3 days of rioting. They certainly took no action and made no arrests.

This really is miraculous - in only 2 days the BBC and the ONS have told us that:
Unemployment has fallen,
Crime is down,
And that more schools are hitting government targets!
And to top it all off, we got a lovely Party Political Broadcast from the Conservative Party after last nights 6 o'clock news.
Unbelievable! It is literally government propaganda!

It has produced figures showing all except the richest 10% saw their take-home wages rise by at least 2.5% once tax cuts were taken into account.
That is more than the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) inflation rate of 2.4% in the year to April 2013.
So the top 10% of earners has seen a small increase in wages compared to inflation.
The headline itself says "according to the coalition"
Therefore I can only assume that yourself and the people commenting on the page haven't read or comprehended the article, and have simply jumped to conclusions after reading the first half of the article title.
As for why there are so many positive stories recently. Thats because there has been lots of positive news.

The BBC would love to say good things about Labour, but their ranks are fully of utter numpties who lose Labour votes every time they open their mouths.
That their leader looks like something Nick Park threw together after a few pints does't help...

Utter fail by you, why not actually read the article.
They've reported what the government have said then asked there financial specialist who point to a different set of stats that don't back it up.
But he pointed out that more up-to-date Office for National Statistics data - the average weekly earnings index - showed wages rose "quite a lot less quickly than inflation in the most recent months".
He added that the IFS's own analysis suggested that "if the recovery takes off and continues as expected, people will start to see their incomes rising by 2015... but they will be well below where they were six or seven years ago".
