*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

The other two options are to get a different phone or root and flash a new kernel.

I flashed a new kernel and the colours are great now, rooting is easy and I use elementalx kernel with cooler colours option. You can also use other kernels like Franco that have gamma interface enabled and use the gamma control app from xda to tweak it yourself.

Really want to do this but one thing is stopping me. The Barclays app will not allow rooted handset :(

Looks very good for modifying your device with loosing the Stock rom.

Edit* my camera is back to been crap again in video mode so yesterday must have just been a one off thing :D

quick N4 question, will all my phone number be saved to sim? so just be a case of putting my sim in the N5 and away i go?

You should be syncing your contacts to the cloud now. So when you configure your email address it will automatically push down all your contacts calendar entries and email.
Log into Gmail on your desktop and look at your contacts.

I personally leave nothing on the SIM.

I did love the way that when I switched the N5 on it went off and collected my contacts, calendar and also all of my Wi-Fi settings (was able to log into home Wi-Fi without needing to enter the password again).
Then it goes off and downloads all the apps I was running on the old phone too.
Nice and easy.

Got one of these today, is there a browser that's the same as the AOSP browser that came with my old Galaxy Nexus? Chrome seems fine except it seems to have bugs with text sizing, I don't know if it's a bug with Chrome or a bug with OcUK

This is what I mean.

There's multiple different font sizes on the same page, there shouldn't be.

It's a known bug with chrome sadly. Are you using the normal chrome or the beta? For me I only seem to get the bug in the beta at the moment, the normal version works fine (touch wood!).

Unfortunately in this version of android, google made it to that the AOSP browser uses the chrome engine anyway, so it's not really any better, just a different interface on top.

If you root and install the xposed framework, there is an app in there called root cloak which allows you to select apps that you dont want to see that you are rooted. ;)

I know about that app and asked on here if anyone could confirm it worked or not with the Barclays app. :)
I guess there is only one way to find out really. :D

I doubt it will I work for Barclays and they don't like root or jailbreak. If it does let me know as this is the reason I have not rooted.

It won't work as Barclays use a native library (compiled with the Android NDK) to check for root; RootCloak can't intercept native calls unfortunately.
