I currently have 3x 500GB Seagate HDD's in RAID0 and a 1.5TB Seagate LP HDD for back ups. All these are inside an Icy Dock Backplane and all are SATA II.
I'm thinking of buying a cheap 120/128GB/180GB SSD to use for the OS (Windows 8.1 Pro x64) and all programs minus games (not that many actually and nothing heavy: Office 2013, WMC, Photoshop, utilities etc), and keeping two of the Seagate 500GB's in RAID0 for games. The 1.5TB will remain for back ups.
Is it therefore worth adding an SSD to this system for this purpose?
Its a mid range system and my aim is to speed up boot times and general running of the OS and programs.
Ideally, my entire budget is £100. £12 of that would cover the purchase of an Icy Dock 2.5">3.5" conversion adapter which would enable me to fit the SSD into my backplane.
Cheers.
