What film did you watch last night?

The Spectacular Now - Pretty hard hitting for a teenage drama, wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. 7/10

A.C.O.D - Was expecting it to be awful but it was perfectly watchable. 6/10

Now You See Me - Really enjoyed this one, an interesting spin on typical heist movies. 8/10

Captain Phillips - Stunning, tense and believable, best film I've seen in a long time. 9/10

Runner Runner - Meh. 4/10

We're The Millers - Don't think the film was marketed at all well, seemed to be about a dysfunctional family rather than what actually happened. Enjoyable comedy. 7/10

Lone Survivor

Was alright. A bit too Hollywood, i.e. being shot in the feet, arms and legs, falling down ravines, landing on their heads (Oh yeah, they're SF, so they don't put those helmets on that they lug around strapped to their bergens right  ) and snapping bones on trees, only to casually stand up and calmly land 3 head shots in a row. MURICAH!! Shame, as it is based on a true story. Didn't think Wahlberg was cast correctly as the lead role too. Couldn't take him seriously enough for the role.

6/10 worth a watch

6/10 worth a watch
The multiple gunshot wounds and falling are accurate.. But yeah bit mericuh at times

Don Jon - 6.5/10
I was a bit disappointed. Expected more. Good film with some funny moments. But predictable.

The Sessions - 7/10
Solid Indy film. Good performances and funny. William H Macy is brilliant, as ever.

Seven psychopaths - 7/10
Surprisingly funny, if rather predictable. Decent twists here and there. Good performances all round.

The Wolf of Wall Street - 9/10
Excellent performances by Hill and Di Caprio. Just brilliant. Hope it wins big at the Oscars, it deserves it. Genuinely funny as well, but not quite as pants-wetting as UK audiences seem to think :p

I must be easily impressed :p

I still laugh to my self, especially thinking about the cerebral palsy bit. I nearly died at the party bit where Jonah Hill got a bit excited over Margot Robbie.

Will be a Bluray buy for me :)

Escape Plan
As others have mentioned above, it's not a bad film really. It was entertaining, and it has two of the biggest actions movie actors ever!!
I did however think the helicopter rescue from the water, and subsequent death of the warden was quite silly though.

Yeah, that was a bit weak. But still, Arnie going nuts in German :D

I watched the silver linings playlist, enjoyed the movie, bit slow paced at times but rounds itself out

Watched the perks of being a wallflower last week and was very suprised by how much I enjoyed it, good story.
also - escape plan
you hit like a vegetarian - great line, good a laugh from me :)

The Blu of Wolf of Wall Street will include the four hour cut

Blimy I thought it was long enough at three hours, just right in fact... saw it today with the missus, and we both loved it... its simply a great, entertaining film, with some brilliant performances.... and lots of naked women, so what's not too like? ;)

Not sure how an extra hour could make it better?... I think it would stretch it too much, and lose focus, which even this cut did at times.

9/10

Last night, watched the blu of Francis Ha an amusing tale, in the mould of Woody Allen. Its quirky and enjoyable, with a hapless, but endearing main character Frances (Greta Gerwig) as she stumbles through life. Filmed in B&W on Canon 5d's it looks an ugly, moiré patterned, noisy, mess at times esp. in low light... can't say I'm keen on DSLR's being used for full length movies, though they have their place at times.

7.5/10

12 Years a Slave. 7.5/10.

It was a little laborious at points, but I enjoyed it on the whole, and the visuals were pretty impressive. I did feel something was missing from the film overall, can't quite put my finger on what though.

Joss Whedon's adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing. It's a modern re-telling, in the same vein as Baz Luhrmann's Romeo+Juliet, though less stylised. That being said, some of the characters are quite over the top - Alexis Denisof and Nathan Fillion's characters in particular. It's good fun. Recommended.

Léon: The Professional (International Version) - 9.5/10

Stunning acting by Jean Reno, Natalie Portman and Gary Oldman in a film I can't believe is now 20 years old!

Might have to watch this again!! Not seen it for at least 10 maybe 15 years!!

Watched - Sherlock Holmes (Guy Ritchie) - 8/10

Watched it again after starting to read the Original Conan Doyle books on my Kindle.

Thoroughly enjoyed it! RDJ is very good as the Drug Addled Holmes with Personal Hygiene problems and Jude Law makes a convincing Watson. Good bit of 'Ritchiesque' action and some comedy thrown in for good measure!! Gonna watch "Game of Shadows" Friday Afternoon now!! :)
