Cheapest car to insure?

For a 17 year old the cheapest is a yellow cinquecento with a red door or a c1 or a old style mini. I spent a lot of time with my nephew who's 17 soon and they were the cheapest non lol prices.

I think when you're a couple of years older it switches to the bigger car but at 17 definitely for us the smaller car.

I' probably go for the Toledo or Octavia out of that lot. I wouldn't let a couple of hundred difference in insurance sway you: get the car you think you'll enjoy driving the most.

Tried running the above quotes with a diesel version of the car. ?

Something like a avensis diesel would I imagine never have been owned by any young person in the history of motoring try saabs as we'll see if you can insure some naughty turbo power for not a lot of cash

No, it is that bad.

Get yourself some fabia action. An estate in that horrible green colour

Check the diesel ( SDI not TDI) too as above

It is bad, but then the others aren't rocketships either. The octavia will be more comfortable than a fabia, a bit safer and he'll be driving something a bit different to what everyone else drives when they're 17.

Agreed, but when you're rocking less than 80bhp every bit of weight you don't have to deal with helps. Plus its a first car refinement won't really matter, it'll just be lucky if it stays hedge free

I've covered off not what everyone else drives with my manky green fabia na diesel estate

Fair point :p I just think having a proper saloon style car would be more fun for roadtrips and stuff. The most fun car I've ever had was my 850, mainly because it was huge :D

What about a much older car on a classic policy? Say a classic Mini or a Dolomite?

I would have said that as my old '85 Audi ur-quattro Turbo only cost me just over £200.

But running a classic quote through a mainstream place like Go Compare etc is pointless they will quote you silly, you need to go to somewhere that specializes in Classics like Lancaster but at his age will be extremely lucky to find anywhere that will quote him, most have a minimum age of 21 - 25.

You nearly had me there :p
Was thinking, that's a bit quick. Looked more closely and it appears to be in km/h not mph :o

:D

All the quotes were from comparethemarket.com, which comparison site would you recomend?

Edit

Does the 2 years of driving on provisional count towards my own car insurance?

I actually found the diesel versions of cars I was quoting were more than the big engined petrol versions!

Also MX5? :P

Do this!

My little brother (at 23) just got his first car, a 1996 MX5, cost him less to insure than my (at 30) Mazda 6 :(
