Philip Seymour Hoffman dead at 46

Shame, quite a fan of him over the years. Not the best film in the world but Love Liza is an odd but watchable film I always think of when hes mentioned.

Am I harsh in thinking that although his death is sad, he is a complete tool for taking drugs with 3 young children?

If having three young kids and a successful career is not enough of a kick up the backside for you to quit and stay off drugs, then I don't think you ever have any hope.
He was just a drug addict, nothing more nothing less. Had help in the past but he seems to have been the type who just didn't learn or want to give them up and had it coming.

Mark "Rent-boy" Renton: People think it's all about misery and desperation and death and all that **** which is not to be ignored, but what they forget is the pleasure of it. Otherwise we wouldn't do it. After all, we're not ******* stupid. At least, we're not that ******* stupid.

I'm not convinced weighing up options and making decisions based on that comes into addiction much.

He was a good actor, but it's just a shame he's died of a drug overdose. I don't feel much sympathy for him as it was his own fault

WTF !! One of my favourite actors!

The first film I remember seeing him was in Twister, and I always thought he was incredibly cool in that. He was also pretty awesome in Along Came Polly. Some of his scenes were hilarious.

Damn, what a shame. I thought he'd go on to be one of the greats with a long film career after Capote, Charlie Wilson's War, and The Master. So dad.:(

RIP :(
