Cheapest car to insure?

I find compare the market the worse one and I have ran millions of quotes over the years.

I find MoneySuperMarket and Confused to be the best. Also check admiral.com out and go through the quote system.

Fair point :p I just think having a proper saloon style car would be more fun for roadtrips and stuff. The most fun car I've ever had was my 850, mainly because it was huge :D

The 850 wasn't a 1.4. The Octavia will be an unrefined slow as a turtle horrible thing to have road trips in!

The difference in price between them is from 30 to 100 pounds.

:D

All the quotes were from comparethemarket.com, which comparison site would you recomend?

Edit

Does the 2 years of driving on provisional count towards my own car insurance?

The 2 years provisional driving - normally, no, but one insurer (can't remember who) is yes so worth finding them out :)

We've just done our insurance for this year, be aware that if you use confused.com you get inundated with crap from companies that they have sold your details to.

I had 4 calls from random companies on my mobile on Monday :(

I didn't give them my real contact details, only email which I use for sites like this...

Admiral.com was 3x the price e.g. fabia 3,6k and on others like confused 1k

Some kind of old diesel I reckon

Worked for my brother when he first passed. He couldn't get any petrol car quotes at anything I would call reasonable.

Ended up with a 306 diesel as the insurance was about 40% less.

Also try getting quotes with the vehicle being left on the road over night. My wife's insurance is 50ish quid a year cheaper if it's on the road rather than on the driveway.

I feel sorry for whoever has the number I made up to put on there :p

My first car, one I could find with half decent insurance was an 02 plate ford focus TDCI.
I paid iirc £1440
Have you looked at 10month policies?

As above:
Parked on road overnight was cheaper with admiral group
use the job tool over on MSE I managed to knock a little bit off just from changing job description slightly.
Know any older female drivers? friends mothers? owt'll do really lol

It seems like the newer cars are cheaper to insure, diesels again depends what car and what specific engine.

May I throw in Peugeot 306 1.6 to the fray? :) The 98 or whenever ABS turned up would probably be a good year.
Lastly, Citroen BX :D.

And regarding comparison sites, I'm probably stating/restating the obvious but when you have a feel for the guys who give good quotes, go direct and compare to the... compare site.

Interested in this thread. Mrs is currently learning and should be passed within the next few months. She's 24 and is looking for something that basically isn't going to bum rape her. We've been getting quotes on Kia Picantos and Toyota Aygos which have been between around £1600 but will look at some of the cars suggested. If we can get her in a slightly larger car with much cheaper insurance it could be a winner!

For the first year on my Polo 9N 1.2 2dr I was quoted £1550, but it dropped considerably when I changed to a multicar policy with Dad. Think it worked out as around £1250, then they gave me £100 back when I changed occupation, but wanted their £100 back again when I fitted non-standard (but VW OEM) wheels, and better suspension. :p

I believe "Voluntary worker" is one of the cheapest, and its what mine was when I took out my quote.

When I wanted to change to "Apprentice" the online quotes system quoted me £500 more! but when I phoned up they said the online quotes system is stupid and rather than taking £500, they gave me £100 back. :p
