I've been faffing about with the KFL quietly bemoaning my unwise and frankly n00bish choice of 34GA Kanthal. I have made about 8 coils so far and just cant get enough wraps to even get a half respectable wick cover and silly high ohmage - just 2-3 wraps were coming out at 2.5-3.5 ohms or there abouts. Sure they vaped ok, but just not quite where I would have liked.

I even tried to build a micro-coil and that came in at 6 ohms!

Then I saw a youtube on twisted wire and thought ah-ha! Twist the wire halve the resistance or something - so I got my drill out and tried and tried to twist the wires with an allen key in the chuck - kanthal kept breaking. Got fed up and just attached the wire directly into the chuck and whooom... one twisted wire.

After 3 more failed builds using the twisted wire (running out of Kanthal now) I have managed to fluke a 1.5 ohm coil with 5.5 wraps and its running at 3.1 volts - sweet mary mother of god it kicks out vapor like an Indonesian Volcano!

Really enjoying this rebuildable lark - I didn't think I would have the patience for it but my often hilarious noobish mistakes (trying to thread silica through a perfectly spaced, beautifully firing but stupidly fragile coil causing it to break right at the last minute - spilling e-juice everywhere more often than not - calculating the voltage so far wrong that the coil I just spent an hour on has instantaneously popped, trying to empty the kayfun by putting the drip tip over a juice a bottle and removing the base only for the drip tip to fall out into the bottle and then spending half an hour trying to get it out again) seems to keep me endlessly entertained.

There a lot to be said for humorous self-depreciation in the face of adversity when trying to stem the call of the stinkies, thats for sure. :D

I have a roll of .2 kanthal coming in next week hopefully. This'll do till then thanks very much :)

Been loving mine this week - I have also been getting lots of practice in with coils! Frustrating at times agreed - Had a go with the M3 micro coils and nearly threw it against the wall.

However, .2 Kanthal with doubled 2mm Silica and 4 twists gives me a consistent and (presentable!) coil at 1.6-1.8ohm every time now! Really simple and gives a fantastic and consistent vape at 3.7V which is approx 9 watts. Takes 5 mins to do from scratch now so no problem at all. Just remember to do a good dry burn, prime with juice and have a vape through the chimney only before putting back together! This allows you to check all is good and limits rebuilding hassles if not.

Running triphammer T&H standard at 18mg through it and with the KFL+ and mini Provari I have found my vaping nirvana (For the time being!)

Had a totally wicked stick for a while but never used it - These fluids with nicotine give me a headache after a couple of pulls!.

I changed the atomiser(!?!) for a Kanger glass top which made a fair bit of difference to the taste - but still wasn't very impressed as a fulltime cig replacement. For me the whole allure to smoking is the inhaling and exhaling of smoke, so realised I needed something which gives tons of vapour.

Visit to the local e-ciggie shop and a couple of days online research later - BEHOLD! - The daddy!:

Love my new itaste svd! - set to 4.2volts/2.1amps/8 (something or the other) gives tons of vapour!. Also now using starbuzz tropical non-nicotine stuff I find it's awesome for chilling and really like the taste - nowhere near as excessively sweet as some of the other fluids I've tried.

Using my other custom pen thingy for nicotine hit now and then to keep the craving under control!

SV Kit came with the following all for £70 from a local high street retailor:
1 x itaste svd, 2 x iclear tanks, 2 x rotating tips, 4 x coils,both short and long telescopic battery holders, 1 x 2000mah battery, 1 x 800mah battery, 1 x charger + 1 x e-liquid - thought that was a pretty good deal as we're looking about the same for this stuff online (+ postage).

Can anyone suggest a alternative to the Aspire BDC Vivi Nova please? Got the wife some of these for Christmas to go with her Innokin SVD but all three leak and am well and truly fed up with them. At the moment she is using her iclear 30's that came with the SVD but she prefers the flavour and hit from the Aspire BDC. Is there anything similar that doesn't leak?

What ratio juice are you using?

I was using 70pg 30vg when i first got mine and they leaked a lot, now i use 50/50 and they are pretty much perfect, airflow also plays a big part with these tanks.

Mostly 60/40 with some 50/50 too. It leaks out the bottom of the tanks and also into the mouthpiece. She's given up on them now, hence suggestions for something similar.

Can anyone recommend some juice on a par with Scope's? I've just ordered some from Mrs Lord which I'm hoping will compare, though wondering if there were any other suggestions?
I like my dessert-esque juices, so no snake oil/tobacco/menthols or the like. :)

I've been vaping since 21st December with just a basic starter pack. Having been a 20 a day man previously, I can't believe how easy I've found it, previous attempts to quit cold turkey had turned me into a miserable and grumpy ****!

So now I've fully embraced vaping, I've decided to retire my eGo to a back up, and invest in an itaste VTR! I'm torn though between the stainless steel one and the camo green, I think I'm leaning towards the steel, but was hoping someone who had one could let me know just how bad of a fingerprint magnet they are?

I'm currently use the Aerotank, best I have ever used imho. However I am still waiting on my Kraken clone from Fast Tech, I ordered earlier Jan, there back-orders were fulfilled around 2 weeks ago now but no parcel..

I have the airflow adjuster that i put on a PTII, seems the best option over the Aerotank. Its alright, nothing major imo.

My Nautilus gurgles ****ing constantly no matter what i do. I've had bad luck with Aspire stuff, bad heads and now this... It aint leaked yet though!

All my upgrades have been dispatched. Received the first of my upgrades today, only two blue torchy 18350 batteries. Should receive the Sigelei tomorrow or wednesday. Registered at fasttech too and ordered $25 of various drip tips.

Anyone remember how long they steeped their alchemists cupboard rhubarb crumble and custard? Mine were dispatched a week ago on the 27th so have had a weeks steeping with the caps off in my cupboard. I tried the rhubarb crumble and custard on friday (4 days steeping) just to see how badly it would need steeping and yeah, tasted very perfumey and bitter. Trying it again now, a complete week of steeping since dispatch. The flavour on the draw is sweeter, more rhubarb coming through, bit of vanilla, but still harsh and perfumey. Do they normally take much longer to steep, like 2 weeks? I noticed Todd of ecigreviews on one of his reviews tried the coconut caramel and hazelnut honey as soon as he got it without steeping and said it's divine. I've got that flavour, been steeping a week too. Perhaps it matures quicker than others, maybe worth a try now?

Thanks guys. I think i will get her the Aerotank. It would seem there are quite a few people complaining about Aspire tanks leaking. If she doesn't like the Aerotank that much i can always get the adaptor that lets it run the Aspire BDC's.

Wait a tick the Aerotank wont run aspire BDC's - to my knowledge there is not an adaptor that will allow this because the chimney is too high in the device (at least not yet).

It's a pain even to run a kanger single coil because of this design decision as I have found out (because the Kanger dual coils do not seem all that to be honest).

The best option if you want to go Kanger is to run a ProTank 2 as a single coil (not 3) with the airflow control valve from an Aerotank (they are available separately).

I have an Aerotank, a Protank 2, an Aspire BDC Davide and I have spent the last 4 weeks or so testing all the configurations - Aerotank dual coils (they ARE different to Protank 3 dual coils and the aerotank WILL leak if you use a kanger dual coil not specifically designed for the AT), Aspire Dual coils and Kanger single coils, all with the aerocontrol valve swapping out and about.

Out of all of them IMHO - and I am basing this on flavor, not necessarily on vapour production - the Protank 2 running single coil with a aerocontrol valve from the Aertank is the best with the 50/50 triphammer juices. The Davide DBC running a Aspire Dual Coil is a close second (also with the ACV) but the aerotank running kanger aerotank dual coils is frankly not up to it.

Its best to convert the AT to a single coil setup by doing a cludge by using the single coil with an additional rubber gromet from another in order to seal to the chimney (place a very small o-ring on first to prevent it getting too far compressed), or rebuild your own coil - then it performs very well (albeit if you use the double grommet cludge it has a tendancy to leak if you suck too hard).

Edit: Look Todd thinks so too so I'm not a nutter!

Depends what you want, t-juice do better 'fruity' flavours imo, red astair is just plain awesome :) Although the wife says I smell of cough mixture now instead of fags ;)

Kanger Protank 2 fits just perfect on a SVD and will be the most leak free atty you have. Just make sure you get a genuine one and if your not wrapping your own coils stay away from the fasttech coils as they are just pants. Evod's are ok too, just a small protank really but looks odd on a svd. Avoid the protank 3, its a leaky mess (as is just about every dual coil tank)
