Google-Motorola "X Phone" in the 2013 pipeline?

I don't know why you're paying more attention to GSM Arena than to Motorola's webpage and me. Its not decided yet and will be Q2 before it's settled. GSMA can speculate all they like!

Well done indeed. Phone going well too and battery seems to be lasting a little longer than it did. Wasn't bad before though of course everything on the software side is fresh.

Only reason I have the back up phone is the s/h value of a Razr i isn't great so may as well hang onto it :D Moto X does look what might be called a mid range phone and a very good one at that. If I hadn't got the 'One' than for sure would be looking at getting a Moto X .... just not a 16gb model

My opinion of the sale to Lenovo is they can't be a lot worse than Motorola were with their support, updates and general UK marketing?? (Yer I know marketing isn't all down to Motorola in the UK)

It still says 32gb available online only on Motorola UK's website  If we aren't to get the 32gb version then yes, well done Motorola and 'I'm out' ;)

Am glad that HTC have worked their magic and done a decent job repairing your HTC One. You should be getting the 4.4.2 update soon if you're phone isn't network locked.

There's no problem having a backup phone, wish I had one as well since my N5 has messed up when I installed an app and it's going into a boot loop. I've literally spent the whole day trying to sort it out. If I had a backup phone I could use that whilst I get the N5 up and running again, but due to time constraints I have to work on the N5 as quick as possible and get it up and running again which can be extremely annoying.

Yep, let's hope so....Lenovo can't be no worse than Motorola eh? They'll definitely have to up their game if they're to have a presence in Europe and the United States.

Motorola can't and won't give a straight answer if the 32GB will be available or not. To be honest I really can't be bothered about the Moto X now...new phones are only around the corner and will be infinitely better.

Well there's no smoke without fire....Not only are GSMarena stating that there won't be a 32GB version released in the UK but also Android and Me.

Don't forget when I emailed Motorola CS they weren't exactly forthcoming with their reply and were rather cryptic. Which I can conclude by their rather vague response that the 32GB wont be released in the UK.

The Moto X ship has sailed...whether they release a 32GB or not it doesn't matter to me anymore.

Motorola have never been very forthcoming about anything. Previous Motorola phones I've had it has always been the same tale. They announce no further updates, owners revolt and then Moto say "maybe" and so it goes on. Well so it seems to me anyway.

As to the Moto X ship sailing then I'm in same boat as you ... I've kind of lost interest in owning one. Something unforseen happens to my HTC then I could be interested. Trouble is there are newer phones on the horizon. All this said I'm sure the Moto X will make a good job of being a phone ;)

I hear you Bud. Moto's customer service is dire without a shadow of a doubt and yes owners do get extremely frustrated by the service that they receive.

Besides with your HTC One now running really well, you must be extremely pleased, aside from Boom sound, the screen on the HTC One is gorgeous and the feature that really impressed me the most. When I had the HTC One, I remember glancing over to it when it was sitting on my desk and it looked like someone had placed a sticker on the screen, it was so vibrant and clear.

Yes newer and better phones are on the horizon, it's still a good phone for what it does but I rather get a phone with better SoC and specs as I'm a phone junkie lol

I'm looking to get a backup phone though and I will look to get a Moto G as for the price it's does pack a punch and Motorola have done well with the pricing and getting Kit Kat onto is extremely quickly.

Not strictly-speaking on-topic, but I just noticed that the LG G2 can be had for only £20 than this phone. And even though the G2 is hardware-wise by far the better phone, and despite the fact that the Moto X is nearly a year old, its future support not guaranteed due to the Lenovo acquisition, and people have had problems with Motorola in the past, people are STILL flocking to buy the X, I'm seeing a lot more news items on tech blogs mentioning it, and there's generally a lot more excitement about it - and even about the Xperia Z1 Compact, which is £100 more for crying out loud, than about the G2's discount!

THAT'S how desperate the Android crowd is for a reasonably-sized phone that we can hold with one hand, that we're willing to pay as much for a Moto X than for a G2, and £100 for a Z1 Compact!

OEMs are so desperate to create giant slabs of glass that look breathtaking on store shelves that they've COMPLETELY lost touch with their customers - they have no idea what we wwant, and it's ******* me off! >:(

There's also the god awful LG skin on android to take into account, a lot of people are getting het up about the Moto X as it's another Nexus class device and the tech press particularly love that sort of thing.

Cheers, since using my GS2 again I like the idea of a very compact phone.

But I need at least a 4.5" screen. The Note 3 goes to the wife on Friday.

Oh really? You're full of surprises my friend, I thought you were loving the Note 3 experience.

Just how well is the GS2 running the Kit Kat ROM?

So could it be that the Moto X purchase is on the cards if you're liking the compact form factor again? or maybe even the Z1 compact (even though the latter has a 4.3" screen?)

EDIT I forgot your love for AMOLED screens so the Z1 compact will probably discounted due to its screen tech and size.

Haha Stoosh, I bought the Note 3 with the insurance that if I didn't want it later down the line then it would go to my wife and I would take her upgrade. The Note 3 while great, is just a bit too big and touchwiz and knox is grating.

KitKat is running surprisingly well on the GS2. It now feels like such a dinky phone to hold compared to the latest big guns. I think the Moto X is the perfect blend of big screen and small bezel, but I'd want to get the next gen as the current one is not worth money for me.

While I appreciate the Z1 Compact, I don't like that it has onscreen buttons while the bezels are so big. And yes, it has to be OLED lulz.

Great idea kona...though didn't your wife keep telling you that the Note 3 is too big just so she could get her hands on it? :p

I agree Touchwiz is way too much and Knox is a massive deal breaker. Like you I'm done with Samsung phones for now as I'm liking the way KitKat looks and runs. I've always liked vanilla Android as it's simple and looks neat.

Google designed KitKat to run well on lesser specced phones and with the GS2 running it with ease is s testament to that.

I agree wait for the next Moto X but it may be a fair while knowing Motorola.

So what do you have your eye on with the impending upgrade?

Agreed with the bezels being too big on the Z1c I don't understand why Sony insist on phones with massive bezels. It just doesn't look right.

Sony should have thin bezels soon, shame the Z1c is a bit late for the new design.

It's a close call between the Z1c and Moto X. The Lenovo buyout doesn't effect anything, support was always going to be a year(ish) and the Z1c will only get a year too. I'd probably get the Moto X if my HOS breaks and can't fix it.

TBH I'm not a fan of really thin bezels like the LG G2 has - there's simply nowhere to hold the phone from securely, and when I type wiht my thumb I keep touching the screen with my palm! So it could be that the big bezels on the Z1c are a Sony design choice, particularly as it's meant to be easy for 1-handed use.

They could definitely shape a little off the bottom bezel though, and A LOT from the top one./

Well that didn't last long .... the fracking thing crashed and went into boot loop followed by a trip to boot menu AGAIN  I also happened to notice on top of the boot menu it has changed from 'locked' to 'tampered'. Anyway it's dead again and no doubt will have to send back to HTC .

What to do? I'm semi tempted to buy a Moto X. Motorola's I've had in the past have always been reliable. My sim contract is nearly up and could get one on contract but not really keen on 2 year contracts. What I do need is a reliable phone. Anyone got a Moto X yet?

Hehe, I'm just glad I can offload the Note to her :D Her Note 1 is going to Mazuma...a shame as it's in really good condition.

Yeah I hate what they have done with the TW Settings page (tabbed) and the dpi on the Note 3 is huge. Though it does run lovely and smooth, a first for TW :D

I'm going to try out the Moto X as soon as my favorite store has it in stock - ;) You know the store :p

I have my eye on the upcoming GS5 but I'm not holding my breath at all, I want a phone with a classy design and no shiny silver plastic :D

Other than that I will keep an eye on this years flagships from the other OEM's. My real want is the next Moto X.

Sony have got a great phone out with the Compact, lets hope they keep pushing forward.

At least the Note 3 is going to a good home and someone you can trust, plus you'll still be able to mess around with it.

Have you tried any other recyclers other than Mazuma? You might be able to get a better price for it or better still sell it on Gumtree.

This year's iteration of Touchwiz is the worst yet, it's ugly and so full of bloat, I don't like the direction Samsung is taking it.

I'm totally going to ignore the GS5, it has to be something really special to make me part my cash, also Samsung need to do away with the monstrosity that is Knox.

Like you said Sony are pushing forward in the right direction and I have my eye on the Xperia Z2 if the leaks prove to be true then it's going to be a special phone, as is the HTC One 2 or whatever it's called, although HTC better get a grip on QC and the pink camera issue.

Not long until your favourite store has stock of the Moto X and you can test their wonderful returns policy out...hell I might even give it a go if I get bored lol :D

I don't :o Rain-forest by chance?

Was in town yesterday and had a look at a display model Moto X in Phones4U. More compact than I imagined, or more so than the HTC One and handled nice. A none working display model so that was as far as it went.

My HTC One is on its way back to service center and can only hope it is actually repaired this time. For some reason I'm not right hopeful

Small part of me fancies a Moto X. If there was a 32gb model available I may have caved, subject to how much the extra 16gigs would cost. I really like the 'One' but as ever HTC's reliability puts a damper on  I've maybe been unlucky as far as that goes?

I've asked Motorola UK support where and when 'online' I'll find the Moto X available as I have hard cash waiting for one  I now await their response. Not right hopeful about that either :D

Actually noticed 32gb developer editions on Ebay. In the US and I think all in you were looking approx £370 all in. Price aside there is too much to go wrong with that deal for my liking.

Other than that I will keep an eye on this years flagships from the other OEM's. My real want is the next Moto X.

That will be interesting though no leaks yet :D

@Richy888 The thing is about Moto X developer editions is that their LTE frequencies might not be compatible with your network and I agree that there's too many things that might go wrong.

I wouldn't hold my breath too long for Motorola to give an answer and if they do it's going to be a cryptic one at that.

Still there's always the meenova micro sd card reader you can use with the Moto X.

Shame your HTC One's gone back for repairs, I hope they sort it out this time round.
