Taliban Capture "Imperialist Dog"

Disappointed that they don't do one for cats :(

"Captain Mittens, you don't understand! We have to go NOW!"

"Ruurrrrrrrr"

"Bull****! It's not that bad. I can carry you. You're going home!"

"Hiisssssss!"

"I... I understand. I just want you to know, sir... I want to tell you right now that you're the bravest ball of fur that I've ever served with, and may ever serve with again."

"Raaeeeeooorrrr"

"I'll never forget you, sir. We will never forget you. I'll make sure your family, and every other god damned American out there knows what you did. For all of us."

*Captain Mittens hocks up a furball*

Why would the dog be killed? (other than Muslims think dogs are dirty creatures).

Because if the Taliban understand the love and adoration that the West has for dogs, they will understand how much of psychological weapon they will have their hands if they release a video of them slitting the dogs throat.

Particularly to those who looked after it. No doubt there is an American soldier feeling pretty terrible about things right now.

But that kind of tactic has had the exact opposite effect on Americans since the Civil War and in every war since then.

Mr President, we need 10 more Drones to patrol Pakistan
Sorry General, budget cutbacks...

Mr President Sir, they killed Colonel the Dog
What was that General, 10,000 Drones? Let me see what I can do.

Taliban will be fighting in the shade

The effect of psychological warfare isn't as black and white as that, is it?

Demoralisation in frontline units increases fatigue and reduces operational effectiveness. By the time the effect of that reaches leadership, the worst damage is already done.

Exactly, the impact on morale would be pretty devastating. Americans like us, love their dogs.

Still out of decency go back for the dog. It's the same with the bomb disposal robots. Most EODs formed a bond with their robot, from memory from a few news stories on new scientist (or scientific american?) there was a physiological impact when one was damaged or destroyed. Couldn't find the exact article, but here is a similar one: Emotional attachment to EOD robots

Imagine the handler right now, the dog doesn't look happy either.

Turns out it's a British dog lost during a SAS raid which ended in the death of a soldier -

SKY NEWS said:
A military dog captured by the Taliban and paraded on TV is British and went missing during an SAS mission that cost the life of a British soldier, Sky News understands.

Early reports had suggested the dog, called Colonel, was from the US but sources in Washington have denied this.

The dog was taken during an operation on December 23 last year east of Kabul.

Captain Richard Holloway, 29, was killed during the mission. He was from the Royal Engineers Regiment but served with the SAS.

Capt Holloway has been described by his commanding officer as a "natural leader", whose "tactical ability commanded wide respect".

He added: "His judgement was un-erring, his enthusiasm was infectious and his standards never dropped."

The military regularly use dogs for surveillance and bomb detection.

The fate of Colonel is not known. The Ministry of Defence has not commented on the reports.

But a statement from the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said: "We can confirm that a military working dog went missing following an ISAF mission in December, 2013.

"It is ISAF policy to defer identification to the appropriate national authorities."

People that are not nice to dogs generally aren't nice people anyway. Feel bad for it.

No it's not funny.

I just hope the dog had a quick death if it is dead. It knows more of loyalty and courage than the filth who parade it around like some twisted trophy. I personally value the dogs life above the people who took it.
