BMI is a load of rubbish for guys anyway. I think at 5.10 and 80kg I'm technically JUST overweight.

Yup, I'm overweight:

Your ideal weight is 63 - 79 kilograms.
Your body mass index is 25.31.

Overweight is 25+

As I said, load of rubbish.

My Fulcrum Racing 5's arrived today :D

Haven't got round to changing the rear wheel yet but compared to the stock triban wheels, without quick release it's a 200g saving on the front wheel and I think it will be a similar weight saving on the rear wheel.

There is never going to be a 100% accurate measurement that works for everyone. I believe BMI is designed for analysing a population rather than an individual, so exceptions like sprinters/rugby players/weightlifter aren't really an issue.

Just popped to Lyme Park and back with a friend. Spent more time off the bike than on though - so many dirt tracks and "paths" that were in fact boggy marsh. It took about an hour to clean myself and the bike off after :p

We were taking it easy so there's nothing too impressive time-wise. I am merely posting the Strava link so people can avoid leaving Lyme Park by the same route we did :p

(Also, thanks for people's suggestions /re the Hy/Rds earlier. The cable pull is still ridiculous but I can deal with it and now that they have bedded in the performance is great. I'll eventually top up the oil and/or mess with the cable positioning, which should reduce the cable pull a bit).

I've got the same wheels, a good upgrade on my alexrim stock job on my trek, so much lighter. For 158, not breaking the bank either. Only ridden them a handful of times, but they seem quite stiff and responsive, I'm happy at least.

Why are Specialized Allez bikes around the £400 mark second hand?

Nothing from any other manufacturer represents such value.

I'm kicking myself about my 2004 Cannondale CAAD5 now, cracking frame, hand made in the USA.

Second hand Treks for example are at least £200 more with the same groupset.

I'm selling my Allez for £300 including a whole load of extras. Not getting a great deal of interest at that price, but then again I've not yet put it on the bay.

For a long time the Allez was the bike for the cycle2work scheme. As a result lots of people bought them very very cheaply. This is now reflected in their second hand values.

Getting better at this bike mechanics thing. Last week I removed, cleaned and refitted my chain and cassette, the other day I changed a stem and last night I changed a set of pedals.

Did you put grease on the pedal threads when you put them on? Every time you pedal you are tightening them and eventually they get very difficult to get off. Lubrication helps.

I didn't as I didn't have any at home.

I read that removing and refitting pedals can damage your cranks? Should I take them off and put grease on or leave them as they are now?

Take them off and grease them. You're not going to damage your cranks. Your more likely to cause damage when you're fighting with them in 12 months time trying to get your pedals loose.

Load of rubbish, only way you could damage them is by cross threading them.

I had a MTB SPD seize on and it was a nightmare to get out of the cranks, make sure they are greased good.
