Absolutely grease your pedal threads. For me a general rule is anything with a thread gets greased or copper slipped.

If it is metal in metal then Copperslip (prevents galvanic welding - I recently had to cut a titanium spacer off an alu fork steerer after it welded itself on). Any other interface I use baring grease.

I used copper non seize grease the last time I replaced my headset bearings. It seems to have done an excellent job. Before, the edges of the bearing sitting in the cup and in contact with the fork were getting corroded together. So when I removed my forks it would just shred the bearing.

Yep, I pretty much grease everything. Every single bolt, headset spacers, cassette spacers, saddle rail. Pedals and brake pad cartridges are common things to get stuck.

Anybody need a tt helmet? Merlin have bell javelin helmets reduced to £55 from £180. Instant 2-3 mph there!

Any tips on unstucking them? I had the little screw that holds the cartridge brake pad in place get stuck recently and just couldn't remove it no matter what i tried.

Ended up just buying another brake shoe. :o

Try taking the shoe of and leaving it in some boiling water for a while to see if you can soften the pad a bit. I always hear the back of them now so they slide out really easy (easy enough to change pads without even having to remove the wheel. )

funnily enough the allez frame is actually a really really good frame for the price if you get a really used complete that needs new components all round, strip the frame down and get a good groupset and wheels and they're easily some of the best riding bikes around

Heads up, Garmin 800 with HR and cadence currently £234.99. Cheapest it has been a little time. Not sure I can justify the expense at the moment....maybe a credit card job?

Do it!

I'm eyeing up some Campagnolo Zondas at the moment for £283. Is there a better/lighter factory wheelset at that price?

I saw that and from what I've read they are reputable with good service, but the shipping will be roughly £20 for a "bulky" item anyway and I can just nip down the road to collect them from Halfords.

I ordered my 105 groupset from that site, good price, sharpish delivery. Can't fault it.

Edit - Is it not free delivery? I didn't pay anything when I ordered from them.

And thank you, a gentle prod and my impulsive nature, I'll have an 800 bundle in the post shortly.....What are your thoughts about another 30 miles this weekend? Tomorrow's not looking good at all, could you be tempted by a Sunday morning possibly?

Looking forward to trying one.

And even more feedback on the Hy/Rds. The cable pull is *really* getting on my nerves now so I've ordered some mineral oil and a bleed kit so I can top-off the oil reservoir. It seems like this is the best way to improve the cable pull situation (as other methods can reduce the automatic pad levelling). I'll post back with my experiences in case anyone else goes through the same in future.
