GS5 to launch in January

This just what I have been saying. If you look at the history of Samsung devices, the new features go into the Note line first, then they move towards the S line. Thus, we'll see a 2K screen on the Note 3 before we see it on the S5, in my opinion.

my note 3 aint got no 2k screen - I feel jibbed

The S4 got a 1080p screen before the Note 3 :p

Lol i can see a lot of people disappointed with the S5 when it get announced in a couple of weeks, if it doesn't come with a QHD screen & a snapdragon 805 & still 2GB of ram.

But look at it this way, it will have a better battery, hopefully better camera with 4K video that not limited to 5 mins and 1080p 60fps, 32Gb of storage as standard this time around, new less hogging touchwiz, and a higher clocked Snapdragon 800 at 2.5Ghz with a 5" 1080p screen and a better design.

That in itself would be a decent upgrade to the S4 i think.

No one here wants a 2560 screen - it's pointless and only a marketing tool.

Biggest upgrade will be a better design HW + SW, battery life and camera.

I'll repeat what I said earlier:

People said that about 1080p and now people complain if a phone doesn't have a 1080p screen. I agree, it's totally ridiculous, but we need a bigger screen, because Samsung says we do and people believe them!

As long as Samsung continue to force Knox down our throats, I'm staying well clear of the company and its products.

It's just one less phone to look at in regards to the up coming releases...

Similar to how I feel as well.

Samsung make some great products, and they've probably had the best hardware in Android phones for the last few years (in my eyes, at least), but I just can't handle having KNOX on there. :(

Exactly, Samsung have annoyed me no end with this KNOX situation. They could make the best mobile ever and I wouldn't buy it simply for the fact Samsung won't let me put custom ROMs on the phone which is rather pointless for the fear of invalidating the warranty. It's almost similar to Apple locking down their devices.

There will be far more than two variants...

While that's likely to be true, it'll probably be the same as the S4, where 99% of people only ever know of 2 variants.

To be honest, most people only ever know of one variant, the S4, they've no idea which SoC is in there. Even with the many variants of the S4 that we have now, 99% of all models sold must be just the 9500 and the 9505, so it doesn't really make much difference how many models there actually are.
