GS5 to launch in January

Isn't a fairly typical trend for Asian tech companies to churn out a seemingly infinite number of slightly different iterations of basically the same device? I think Samsung are no more guilty of this than the likes of HTC, Motorola, Sony, LG, etc etc.

Although Samsung probably take the **** a bit by branding 2 different chipsets the same...

Honestly my biggest hope for the S5 is a METAL body and to copy lots of features from the 5S camera :p. True Tone flash, automatic best shot burst and the fancy tone mapping are bloody brilliant and suit the point and shoot nature of smartphone cameras perfectly. I'd actually quite like to see a fingerprint sensor aswell but would rather have the larger screen/small bezel because the home button would have to grow substantially.

Do we think they'll unveil just the spec or both spec and design?

I seem to remember with the S3 they did both separately

Waiting to see what this brings to the table before i buy anything.
Im hoping it has a better camera with dedicated camera button, all new premium design, dual speakers, 4gig ram and a fingerprint scanner with optical trackpad on the back.

I'd say the iPhone is like a consumer electronics device, and I think that's the way smartphones should be. Android, to my mind, follows the desktop/laptop computer model instead, and I think that leads to a poor smartphone experience. I've all but given up faith of Google ever changing their approach to Android as it isn't in their financial interests to do so. It's a shame because I think Google have potential to make great products, but when they focus only on their profits at the expense of me, the consumer, then I'm not going to be able to seriously use or recommend their products to anyone.

Apple have shown it's perfectly possible to make great products and make shed loads of money at the same time. I just wish we could see Samsung, Sony, LG, Nokia, everyone, emulate that strategy. I've no idea why they don't since it's so lucrative! Some things just boggle the mind though :P

Are you still whinging about android destroying the market and how bad it is? There is a lovely apple sub forum especially for people like you! Try it and you'll meet like minded people.

That is true, I just prefer the "warmth" of plastic, odd as that may sound :D

Its not odd at all, soft plastic feels rather inviting and warm compared to metal which is very cold and clinical. I feel it with my rMBP, when I turn it on its really cold and it didn't feel inviting at all.
