Anyone had a Leon Cupra 180 and a CTR?

The Audi is cheap and nasty in comparison to say...a Mercedes-Benz S Class

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif.../used,nearlynew,new/price-from/6000?logcode=p

Massive difference in quality all round!

But both the EP3 and the Audi in question are 2.0 3 door hatchbacks with similar power.

The S Class in your example therefore is completely irelevant.

Type R vs. Audi. Which do you think will be more fun?

That's the name of the game for the OP.

I'd probably spend some on the Leon, good remap, TIP, 3" downpipe, full exhaust, much better then :)

Having had both, the Audi. CTR was hard for me to live with as a daily. Great fun thrashing it on the moors but in every other circumstance it was a pain.

Op didn't mention an Audi though.

Congrats on finding the most outrageously expensive EP3 in the country

It isn't even the most expensive. Should I have linked to a 200k mile example then?

You either get it or you don't. A type R isn't everyone's cup if tea.

But not everyone wants an audi.

The OP mentioned looking at early year CTRs. And whilst my suggestion of looking for a facelift or a premier edition would have added 1000-1500 to the budget, I wasn't posting a £7000 car suggestion in a thread where the poster was clearly looking at £3000 cars.

What happened to the CTR? Did you drive it into a puddle aka flooded road? CTR don't come with Quattro mates, no use in puddles.

Besides the point why buy an overpriced A3, when you have pretty much a similar car in the Leon, or can get a newer Leon for less.

You've never had a CTR TBL, stop making things up to backup whatever it is you're trying to say.

What do you know? I had a red PFL one with AEM V2, Spoon N1 etc.

Was lovely...for the first week and then it was a loud bothersome car that attracted all of the wrong attention :(

Well you told him to buy a Premier purely because of the seat issue... but there are no PFL Premiers and as you suggest he is looking to spend £3k not £5k on a ropey Premier!

The A3 is a Golf underneath... which is what a Leon is, now consider you can buy an A3 for the same price as a Leon 180 then it is obviously a better choice than a Leon, hence why I used it as an example? Not rocket science is it lol

Then look at tuning. Aem V2 or equivalent (got to be careful with hydrolocking engines on these), I know you love your brand whoring so Gruppe M - £850. Plus full exhaust £550. Plus manifold £850. Plus whatever that fancy ecu is for a CTR £1200. + engine intake manifold skunk2 £450 = £3000 = 260hp.

A3 + £300 remap = 250hp.

Makes more sense now doesn't it?

You came across as an absolute moron in those last few pages, will you pull it off again?

I had one in June 2013, look at the date in that screenshot.

I do find it sad/amusing/funny/pathetic (choose one) that you find my profiles on other sites and go through them to try and make me look bad for insulting your precious Honda brand with a fact that another manufacturer is better (Audi) though. Definetly second on the list I just gave you!

And, all my points on that screenshot are correct. Chavvy boy racer cars. Mine cost £2k with all the mods, I stripped them, put the standard ones on, sold the car for £2400 and sold the parts for a total of £800.

Find more "proof" as you are not trying hard enough pal.

SO I am thinking of buying one of these. I currently have an 8P A3 2.0Tdi, I upgraded to an 8P2 A3 2.0T FSI in December, which was stage 2+ so around 280hp, but sadly wrote it off by driving into an unseen 4 feet deep puddle at 2am when all the roads flooded in Cornwall.

I have been on the lookout for another one and almost ready to pull the trigger on one however by chance I drove a Mk1 TT the other day and loved it.

For a while I have been wanting a mk2 golf gti, which I would put a vr6 engine in (or just buy one), as I am kind of bored of electric steering and wanted something more raw...the TT is a great compromise for me between civility and feel. "

we aren't discussing tuning or modifications. The op was purely interested in another car that wasn't a Leon. I didn't see any questions relating to costs to mod either car? Or Audi's for that matter.

For some unknown reason you are linking to Audi A3s. A car so close to the car the OP currently drives that there is arguably any point changing.

What does me preferring to spend my own money on genuine parts have anything to do with the query raised by the OP?

If the A3 is the same underneath as a golf, and that's what the seat is, then why would the OP change to an identical car?

But the OP doesn't mention wanting a golf. Or an audi. The OP mentions wanting a CTR.

I made the relevant parts bold so that, like a child, you might understand them better.

Ah so as stated above, you had a ropey £2500 probably DPFL Barry EP3 and sold it because it was all of those things.

OK.

A bit bored with the LC is all. Had it for two years nearly and fancy a change. Might see about getting it remapped, see if it changes my opinion of it.

No, the op mentions the choice of a ctr vs the leon that they already have.

I had both the EP3 and the Audi at the same time. For all those reasons I saw yet another opportunity in life to make some cash with no regret (because the car was horrible, probably magnified coming from a vag car). Considering Misschief owns a vag car I find it likely her/his ownership experience will be the same and she/he will probably regret the decision.

This is why I am making these comparisons. Plus an A3 is in the same budget (just) therefore is an obvious contender, without any of the Civic drawbacks.

He never even had his car, he makes things up because he's probably a compulsive liar. The OP should disregard any advice he gives and listen to everyone else.

Yes, agreed, you should buy a Honda because "everyone else" are Honda fanboys and clearly any other car is inferior.

TBL, if you had a EP3, we would have known about it? Don't you have any pictures of it?

EDIT: OP try a Ep3, and whatever else you fancy. Then purchase any which you may like. It's as simple as that.
