I know the Glazers no doubt get on with Fergie, but it's not up to Fergie now, it's up to them. If they aren't happy, I think they might swing the axe.
I think there is, they set up to make our crosses as ineffective as possible (anyone can see we are purely reliant on crossing). It worked.

Do you honestly believe that if Fergie were at Man Utd right now they would be sitting in 7th, 10 points outside the top 4?
They would be in the top 3 and challenging for the title, like they always had done. There were plenty of times Fergie had to rebuild during his reign however they remained competitive during these times. Man Utd look consistently poor tactically and for that the buck stops at Moyes.

yes/no. I think Fergie knew his time was coming up so he stopped spending. He bought a what 5mil back up left back rather than replace Evra, so the new man could get who he wanted rather than be stuck with several players with 5 year contracts. That is sensible and fair, what is apparent is MANY other managers have come to clubs and made bigger and more widespread changes quickly, it's also apparent Utd have this money and have been building up a warchest for this very reason.
Moyes wasted two transfer windows, he should have signed 2-3 absolute first team players for Utd in summer AND 2-3 youth/backup/experience squad players, then signed more in Jan. He refused to make sweeping changes that I think Fergie fully expected him to make.
It's also not entirely Fergie's fault. He did buy two fairly expensive CB's in plenty of time for them to become replacements for Vidic/Rio, they were highly rated and many other teams wanted them. However Smalling and Jones haven't progressed, it could have turned out they were both as good as Rio at his best, but that is football. But again this is well known, again it's Moyes who failed to bring in some experience/stability in defence.
REalistically it's the defence costing them the most, 3-4 attacks in a game and they concede 2 goals. It's constantly the defence making woeful mistakes and Moyes has had two opportunities to bring in players to improve it and done nothing.

United's inability to move the ball quickly stopped them from stretching Fulham and finding space.
Watch Barcelona play teams like that (not so much this season, but in the past) - they crucify them because they are good enough to pass the ball in front of the box, draw players out of position and use the space.
United have players who can do this - Mata, RvP, Rooney, Januzaj and Kagawa are good enough to do that. But Moyes doesn't let them play in that way, and instead throws crosses into a crowded penalty area.
Fulham are not the first team to park the bus. Other teams manage to deal with it. Why can't United?
That's exactly what they did do however, from the outset it was clear they were playing with two banks of four in a defensive formation...and it worked.
That accounts for two positions. What about the other six that they've dropped?

They were in bad form last time we played, that didn't turn out too good for us lol
Maybe we would - but Utd would also have a different team as we would unlikely have had such a dud summer (and the players wouldnt have got away with quite a lot of the performances earlier in the season)
(not to mention I bet some of the penalties not given would have been if SAF was on the touchline)

Fergie is/was a better manager than Moyes. I am fairly certain united would be in a better position if he was still there.
However, United need to look past the manager as the players are a significant part of the issue. It's an ageing squad with misfiring players at the moment.

Can't see how they are going to rebuild with no CL football and with Moyes as manager.
So why on earth don't all of the bottom teams just put men behind the ball against the top teams and accept the draw, if it's so easy?
Watch City, or an in-form Arsenal play against a team which does what Fulham tried. They're patient, keep the ball, and wait for space to open up - they may not always win, but they'll have far more useful possession than United did. United do none of that and simply lump it into the box to see what happens. It's a very simple concept, and most English teams and players are awful at it. No wonder we never win anything at international level.
