eSRAM the reason Xbox One struggles with 1080p?

Did you read it?

from the Dev.

"They are releasing a new SDK that’s much faster and we will be comfortably running at 1080p on Xbox One".

Also, saying it will run at 60fps, case closed in this click bait title, close thread.

So far, this was ignored.

Prob related to the up and coming Xbox one updates (tomorrow and March)

Hopefully that will actually be the case. I just worried they will sacrifice quality/detail to be able to hit 1080p 60fps.

It's all relative, if you make a simple enough looking game then even PS3/360 will have no trouble maintaining 1080P/60fps. Xbox One has massive GPU limitations (on top of the lack of unified memory) that will always leave it lagging far behind PS4 in graphically advanced/next gen games. There is just no getting around the hardware limitations, there may be games which look/run the same on both due to PS4 not being fully utilised but the gap is never going to be closed.

But a faster SDK won't make the Xbox One's that people own any faster. It's not like you can upgrade them. Although I read they are reducing the demands of Kinect to upgrade the GPU power.

Perhaps that is what the developer is referring to, but even then Xbox only gains 8% and it doesn't solve the eSRAM limitation.

basically the title is wrong it's the GPU which is making the xb1 struggle graphics wise.

the eSRAM is making it struggle even more in multi platforms because it isn't cost effective to use it properly.

this is why their is such a huge gap in multi plats, the gap should get smaller in exclusives but there will always be a gap, and a huge one in multi plats.

basically you should be buying all multi plats on ps4 if you own both consoles. if you don't know which console to choose and you care more about the multi plat titles like COD, tomb raider, fifa, BF4, etc than exclusives then get a ps4, if you care about exclusives then choose the console which you feel has the better ones to suit you.

No, the title is fine, as that is what Rebellion have said, just the person who started the thread has worded it very poorly.

If you are sensitive to the subject matter. It's probably best to participate in threads that won't upset you, instead of derailing an otherwise well mannered technical discussion.

No, your thread is ****.

You posted a link, and then a quote from the article in the OP. You've made no attempt to start of a well mannered technical discussion.

You lit the blue touch paper and stood back.

If you wanted a decent conversation on the topic why not include:

Will the process become easier over time as understanding of the hardware improves? “Definitely, yeah. They are releasing a new SDK that’s much faster and we will be comfortably running at 1080p on Xbox One. We were worried six months ago and we are not anymore, it’s got better and they are quite comparable machines.

Have to agree, link and run seems to be all you are about. At least make it on topics that havent been done to death or attempt to steer it from another angle.

Because I posted a link to the article. I'm not going to plagiarise the whole article.
Frankly though, I feel this article stinks of damage control. I don't believe this SDK think is going to make much difference tbh.
If the game plays at 1080p 60fps on both consoles, then I assume it was because the dev lowered the detail until the XB1 was able to achieve those benchmarks, and then just places a FPS cap of 60fps. Then the XB1 & PS4 would perform IDENTICALLY.

I don't see how it can make any difference. Even if it's 1000x times faster or more powerful it's not going to make the consoles that people already own any faster or more powerful, so they'll still have to make sure the games run properly on the original specs.

I expect better from opening posters, if they want a particular agenda discussed then state it - dont herd peoples posts towards it and then miraculously agree once they hit on the opinion you wanted to discuss all along...

I'm very much inclined to agree. I'll leave this open for now in the hope it can turn into a decent discussion, but I'll be keeping an eye on it.

lol, this, it was clearly "hung out" in the hope others citing you really badly hidden opinion would bite and agree before saying it.

Here are the facts as I see them...

1) The PS4 is a more powerful console
2) If a developer makes a game that uses 100% of the PS4 power, the XB1 will not be able to run it identically
3) If a dev makes a game that doesn't use 100% of the PS4 power, the XB1 may be able to run it identically, depending on exactly what resources it does use.

That's pretty much how it breaks down for me.
